About this assignment

We are looking for someone trustworthy to take care of our two dogs. One is a labrador mix and the other is a dachshund. We have a fenced in backyard so they just need to be fed, let out in the backyard and the little one likes someone to snuggle with at night (the large one has a dog bed in the master bedroom). They are fine being left for 8+ hours as long as they’ve been fed and let out in the morning.

What responsibilities are required of the house sitter

The major responsibility is really just making sure the dogs are OK:
- food & water twice a day
-Thyroid pill for the large dog (goes into his food bowl 2x day)
- letting them out in the backyard (the smaller one has a dog door but the larger one needs to go out a few times during the course of the day)

What are the good features of the property and location

Our house is located in a wonderful, walkable neighborhood in Alexandria, Virginia, right outside of Washington DC. There are shops and restaurants all along the main Avenue, which is a half block from the house. There is public transportation to DC for visiting the monuments and sights of the city. Old Town Alexandria is also right next to our neighborhood and is a very quaint, fun and vibrant area. The house is 4 bedrooms, 2.5 baths. There is a fenced-in backyard with a patio and a deck. A grill is also available for cooking outdoors.

What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment

The most important thing is to take good care of the dogs. They are both very sweet, the smaller one barks a bit, but is very friendly and loving. The larger one is very calm once he settles, after the initial introduction. They are both very friendly.

Can I bring my own pets?

Yes
Restrictions: As long as they are dog friendly. Our dogs tend to do OK with other dogs. Sometimes the dachshund barks a lot, but it’s usually just initially and then he calms down. But it is important that any visiting dogs are good with dogs so that they can handle hi
