Longterm live-in housesit in West Los Angeles

About this assignment

Responsible, good communicator, employed WFH or with own funds for longterm housesit, non-smoker, background check, gardening experience a bonus. Willing to live in a small studio space (with full kitchen and bath) for 5.5 months, but a few nice outdoor sitting areas and "third spaces" within walking distance in the neighborhood. No pets or partners, please.

What responsibilities are required of the house sitter

We need daily mail retrieval and sorting, trash cans in and out weekly, plant watering, security, and supervision of any needed repairs on property. We have a detached rental unit on site with a full-time tenant; the only needs in that regard might be supervising a repair in the rental unit if needed.

What are the good features of the property and location

We are located in a walkable neighborhood on the Westside of Los Angeles, two miles from Venice Beach and one block from buses and bike lanes. We can provide driveway parking for one small or medium-sized car. One block from cafes and restaurants, and within one mile you'll find groceries, pharmacy, post office, library, shops, and a weekend farmers market. We have two butterfly habitat/gardens that are filled with birds, bees, and butterflies most of the year. We have fast internet, a/c, dishwasher, clothes washer and dryer,

What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment

It's a 5.5 month commitment, and you'll need your own income or funds to pay for your own food and personal supplies. We have no pets and cannot have them on the property, but there are many birds, bees, and butterflies to admire in our gardens. Los Angeles is huge and an expensive city in which to live; a car is a necessity for many people, but it is possible to get around locally without one if you are committed to a car-free lifestyle.

The housesitter occupies a studio-style space in the front of the house, with a comfortable queen bed. There is a full kitchen and bath, but the house and bathroom are not disabled-accessible, as there are 2-3 small stairs to enter the house and a step-over bathtub/shower. It's a well-loved older house so don't expect updated/minimalist/modern, but it's cozy and full of light. We do not have a housekeeping service so housesitter will need to perform at minimum a "broom clean" level of cleaning up after themselves while here.
