House/Petsitting in beautiful Big Bear, CA

About this assignment

I am looking for an animal lover with dog experience, someone active who likes to take my doggos on hikes and walks. You can use my Jeep to take them places; a lot of days we go hiking just a mile up the road where there is an extensive trail system with varying levels: you can take it easy in mostly flat terrain or pick a trail that has some elevation gain. The neighborhood we live in is pretty quiet and also good for walks. And of course the lake always invites for an outing and swim.

What responsibilities are required of the house sitter

Feed cats and dogs, clean the litter box once a day, take the dogs on outings. Water my new fruit trees.
I don’t expect you to deep clean but keep the house generally clean.

What are the good features of the property and location

The property is small at just under 5000sf but it’s got a nice porch which already invites to sit outside. Our neighborhood is pretty quiet and invites for walks.
It’s 10 min into town and to the lake.
There’s even a free bus service into and around town leaving every 30 min, just 3min by foot from the house.

What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment

While my dogs are very well trained and behaved and social, they do require their walks and/or hikes. I typically take them in the morning (they do sleep in if that’s something you like), feed them right after and then they’ll sleep for the rest of the day and just need potty breaks.
Lola is a survivor of abuse and was afraid of people. She needs an somewhat experienced dog person to give her the confidence to not be afraid of people. Tony, my Golden Mix, is turning 15 yo in June and Ella is about 9. Those two are very chill and friendly but do still like their walks and hikes.

The dogs are not allowed on the furniture.
The cats do love to snuggle with me on the sofa and at night, so preferably you don’t mind sharing the bed with them.
They are quite friendly or Frankie, the little one can be a bit shy but typically comes around quickly. None of them is mean

Can I bring my own pets?

Yes
Restrictions: We are open to pets as long as they are social with the resident pets, house trained and generally don’t pose a threat to my pets, the house or furniture
