We’re looking for a thoughtful, patient sitter who enjoys a quiet home and is comfortable around an independent, sometimes standoffish cat—no need to win her over, just coexist kindly.
Feed Elli twice daily (dry food is automated), keep her water fresh, occasional litter clean (infrequent), and a bit of wand-toy play if she’s in the mood. A few plants for watering once or twice!
Our house is in the historic district of New Rochelle with lots of lovely leafy summer trees, the sounds of birds and cicadas, plenty of space and a 12-15 minute walk to the metro north for an easy half hour train ride into Manhattan.
Elli is wary of new people and can be a bit hostile until she feels comfortable, so this suits someone patient and unfazed by a slow warm-up—or happy simply sharing space respectfully.
You'll need to either have your own car (driveway parking is available) or be comfortable walking to/from the train to head into Manhattan (an easy 12-15 minute walk). Alternatively if you'd like to treat the place as a mini retreat and not head on excursions, there are groceries etc within walking distance as well as the train so you could certainly do that!
No, sorry.

Highest recommendation!
We spent 3 wonderful weeks in New York City staying at Krupa‘s and Ben’s cozy apartment in an absolutely lovely neighbourhood of Jackson Heights, Queens. Krupa and Ben did send us comprehensive informations and instructions prior to our sit, and we arrived to a clean, spacious apartment with a pleasantly relaxing vibe. We felt at home from the very first minute. A bouquet of flowers and a bottle of good red wine waited for us as welcome presents, a lovely gesture that was very much appreciated. Their home is tastefully decorated and beautifully located at a leafy street, that has been transformed into a plaza for pedestrians and cyclists, a real jewel in Jackson Heights. Krupa and Ben are very friendly and thoughtful hosts, who genuinely cared that we felt comfortable. Elli, their cat is a real character, who is wary of new people at first, but warms up with the time. She’s curious and full of energy, loves to play, enjoys being talked to, and follows you everywhere to see what you are up to - except for the period of her napping hours, which are holy to her. ;) She definitely stole a piece of our hearts and it was hard to part. We stayed in contact with Krupa and Ben throughout the housesit and send them pictures and videos of Elli every couple of days, which they really appreciated. Thank you Krupa, Ben and Elli for this great experience!
