About this assignment

We're looking for someone to care for our two beloved pets while we travel. We love exploring new places, and as fellow travelers ourselves, we've used home exchange and travel apps for years, we truly appreciate the value of a welcoming home away from home. Travelling with Lex can be a little stressful for him, and Charlie simply wouldn't have it any other way than staying put! So having a trustworthy, caring person at home means we can explore with peace of mind, knowing our two companions are happy, comfortable, and in good hands. ???

What responsibilities are required of the house sitter

The main responsibility is caring for our two pets. Lex, our 7-year-old poodle, loves his daily walks around the neighborhood, around 30 minutes total, usually split into 2–3 short outings. In summer, there are also a couple of lovely nearby parks he absolutely enjoys visiting with you. Charlie, our 17-year-old cat, is much more independent, she has free access to the balcony and loves lounging in the sun. Both are fed three times a day, and Charlie's litter box is ideally freshened up every couple of days. Beyond that, just the usual house-sitting basics, keeping the space tidy and welcoming.

What are the good features of the property and location

We're located in Leiderdorp, right on the border of the charming city of Leiden, a wonderfully liveable area with great access to shops, cafés, restaurants, and public transport. The apartment has a balcony, and during summer the neighborhood is lovely for walks. We also have bikes available for our house sitters to use, so exploring the area is easy and fun. Leiden is just a 5 minute ride away, It's a beautiful historic city with canals, museums, and a vibrant atmosphere, well worth discovering at your own pace.

What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment

Applicants should be comfortable around both a dog and a senior cat. Lex needs his daily walks, so some mobility and enthusiasm for getting outside is a plus. Charlie is 17 years old and in good health for her age. A love of animals is a must, these two will want your attention and affection!
