About this assignment

We are looking for a reliable person, couple or small family who would like to stay for the full period, from 6 July to 9 August. It is important to us that you enjoy gardening, countryside life and taking care of a real family home, not just using it as free accommodation. We would like someone with previous house sitting references, good communication in English or Swedish, and a calm, responsible attitude. We want to feel that our home and garden are in kind hands while we are away.

What responsibilities are required of the house sitter

The main responsibility is caring for the garden and the house. The garden needs active care, usually around 7–10 hours per week depending on weather. This includes watering with hoses, checking the greenhouse watering system, weeding, mowing the lawn, harvesting vegetables and berries, freezing some harvest when needed, and keeping an eye out for slugs. There are also indoor plants to water once a week. We also ask you to keep the house clean and tidy, compost food waste, take care of rubbish and recycling, and contact us if anything breaks or seems unusual.

What are the good features of the property and location

Our home is an old mission house from 1911 in a quiet countryside location, surrounded by forest and fields. It is a creative and unusual house, with a large hall, a small theatre stage, piano, wood stove, tiled stove and lots of character. People often describe it as a “Pippi Longstocking house”. There is a lake for swimming about 800 metres away, and Rimbo is 4 km away by bike on a paved old railway track. There are shops, cafés, library, restaurants and buses there. The house has fast internet, two bathrooms, a modern kitchen and a garden full of vegetables, berries, fruit trees and flowers.

What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment

This sit is best for someone who genuinely wants a quiet countryside stay and enjoys practical garden care. The garden is not difficult, but it does need daily attention, especially in dry weather. This is not the right place if you mainly want city life, although Stockholm, Uppsala, Norrtälje and Arlanda can all be reached by bus. The house is comfortable, but it is an old building and still partly being renovated, so some rooms are not completely finished aesthetically. No smoking indoors, no shoes inside and no drug use. We will ask for references, ID and a video call before confirming.

Can I bring my own pets?
