About this assignment

We’re looking for a friendly, reliable, responsible, and liberal-minded non-smoking person or couple to stay in our comfortable, well-equipped 2-bedroom, 2-level, 1-bath rowhouse in Northeast Capitol Hill while we’re away for 9 days.

What responsibilities are required of the house sitter

Responsibilities are pretty simple: water and care for our vegetable garden and indoor and outdoor potted plants, bring in mail/packages, and keep the house tidy, secure, and in good shape while we’re gone. The main priority is keeping the plants happy and alive—they’re the real VIPs here!

What are the good features of the property and location

You’re in a really great spot in one of Washington, DC’s most vibrant and walkable neighborhoods—especially during the run-up to Independence Day and America’s 250th birthday, when the city is alive with celebrations, fireworks, and events. Metro stations are close by, and you can easily walk to Eastern Market, the National Mall, museums, restaurants, and plenty of holiday happenings.

The house itself is a well-appointed 2-bedroom (one queen, one double) 1-bath rowhouse with a fully equipped kitchen and two bright sunrooms that make it a great place to relax or work. It’s set up with everything you’d need for an easy stay, including WiFi, A/C, TVs with standard cable, a washer/dryer, an outdoor grill, dedicated workspaces, and free street parking. In short: great location, easy living, and everything you need already here.

What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment

This Capitol Hill home is located in a lively, urban neighborhood, so expect some noise around the Fourth of July celebrations and fireworks. Please also note that the basement apartment is an Airbnb and may be rented separately during your stay, and the small backyard is a shared space with those Airbnb guests. The property includes one set of exterior steps up to the entrance, as well as one interior staircase leading to the second floor.

Can I bring my own pets?

No, sorry.
