Last Minute Opportunity for Sweet Pup and near Marbella, Spain!

About this assignment

I’m looking for a kind, warm, reliable and responsible person to help care for my sweet dog, Gracie, and provide some practical support for me while I recover from planned kidney stone surgery in Marbella. Someone who will enjoy caring for Gracie with love and attention. English speaker preferred. Non smoker.

What responsibilities are required of the house sitter

This is a little different from a typical MindMyHouse arrangement because I will need some practical help after I return from the hospital. I am **not looking for medical or nursing care**. The help I expect to need includes:

- Walking, feeding, playing with and caring for Gracie
- Some light cooking/meal preparation for me and Gracie
- Occasional groceries, pharmacy pickups or other small errands
- Keeping the Airbnb tidy
- Offering assistance after I leave the hospital, when I expect to be tired, weak and sore

You would have your own bedroom and your own bathroom. You would have the accommodation completely to yourself while I am in the hospital.

There will also be plenty of independent time. I expect to spend quite a bit of my recovery resting and sleeping, and I won't need someone sitting with me all day. Once I'm comfortably settled, you would be free to go out, explore the area, and enjoy your own time. Gracie is very sociable and enjoys being out in public and could accompany you to many places, including dog-friendly restaurants, cafés and shops. She is an enjoyable little companion, so caring for her doesn’t mean you need to stay at the Airbnb all day. Depending on how I'm doing, she could also be left alone for about 3 hours.

After I am discharged from the hospital, I would like you to stay with Gracie and me for approximately the first week of my recovery. Depending on how I am feeling, I may appreciate help for a little longer, so some flexibility would be wonderful, although we can agree on the initial dates beforehand.

I’m independent and normally live alone, so I’m not looking for someone to “take care of me” in an intensive sense. What would make me feel most comfortable is simply having a dependable person there during that first week so I don’t have to manage meals, errands, household tasks and all of Gracie's needs while I'm recovering.

If things are going well after the first week, I may need much less help. If you live nearby, another possibility could be transitioning to daily visits/walks rather than continuing to stay at the Airbnb.

What are the good features of the property and location

I am renting a nice AirBnB in Calahonda. About 15 minutes from Marbella and 30 minutes from Málaga. Calahonda is a very nice, quiet residential area. There are beautiful beaches, bars, shopping, sports, and golf. The beach and boardwalk are about 7 minutes by car, or it is possible to walk. There is also a pool on the grounds. Gracie is welcome on the grassy areas.

What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment

You would need to be able to arrive to the AirBnB by the 14th of October to have time to go over details and familiarize yourself with Gracie's routines and the area. I will depart early morning on the 15th. You will have the AirBnB to yourself for the first 2-3 nights until I return from the hospital. Then, I would need you to stay for another week to help out while I'm recuperating. Depending on how I'm doing and your flexibility, the dates could be extended.
