About this assignment

We’re looking for a responsible, mature and trustworthy house and dog sitter to care for Holstone Estate for a few months. You must be confident and experienced with dogs, physically fit and comfortable living independently on a large 13-acre rural property. As the estate is approximately a five-minute drive from town, access to your own car is essential.

What responsibilities are required of the house sitter

The dog is free to roam the 13-acre property and is very independent. He requires feeding each morning and evening but otherwise needs relatively little day-to-day care. He is an outdoor dog who prefers to spend his time and sleep outside, although he loves attention and scratches from people around the estate. When possible, he also enjoys trips into town and walks through the fields or along the nearby tracks.

You will be responsible for keeping your accommodation clean and tidy throughout your stay. If you would like the pool to remain uncovered and available for your use, you will also need to carry out basic pool maintenance, such as monitoring and adding chlorine when required.

What are the good features of the property and location

Holstone Estate is a beautiful 13-acre private estate in the Tuscan hills, surrounded by nature and sweeping views. The sitter will stay in the estate’s smaller house, which offers comfortable, private accommodation and stunning views across the surrounding landscape.

The property is just a five-minute drive from the enchanting medieval town of Poppi, where you’ll find restaurants, cosy bars, artisan delis, local shops, supermarkets and everyday conveniences. The surrounding area is ideal for an active lifestyle, with walking, hiking and running routes through the fields, forests and nearby tracks, as well as cycling and other outdoor activities. A car is essential for reaching town and exploring the wider Casentino area.

What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment

Before applying, potential sitters should consider that Holstone Estate is a large, rural 13-acre property, so they must be comfortable living independently in a quiet and secluded natural setting. The terrain and size of the estate mean a reasonable level of fitness and mobility is required.

The property is approximately a five-minute drive from Poppi, and public transport is limited, so having your own car is essential. Applicants must also be confident around a large, independent outdoor dog who roams freely across the estate and sleeps outside.

The stay will be for several months, so applicants should be able to commit for the full agreed period and take responsibility for keeping their accommodation clean and tidy. If they choose to use the swimming pool, they will also be expected to undertake simple routine maintenance, including monitoring and adding chlorine when required.

Can I bring my own pets?

Yes
Restrictions: Depending on the dog breed, sex, and age, as my dog loves dogs but he may be territorial on the property with another male dog.
