About this assignment

I am looking for a sitter who wishes to enjoy staying in my home and taking care of my birds.

My home currently has some internal and external work being done but no work will occur during the period I’m away.

The entire main floor of the house will be available. This includes bedroom, 1 1/2 baths, kitchen, dining room, living room and laundry room.

The upstairs, consisting of 3 rooms is being worked on. The lower level is habitable but will be painted upon my return. The lower level consists of a bedroom, family room and full bathroom.

The yard had some areas covered due to the growth of an invasive plant during the last 2 years; however much of the yard and woods are usable. There is just under 3 acres of land.

What responsibilities are required of the house sitter

You will need to feed and water the birds daily as well as perform some cleaning in their room. The cleaning is washing of the towels on the floor as well as cleaning of the wood perches with a bucket of warm water and a sponge.

There will be normal housecleaning, bringing in the mail and putting out the garbage for pickup.

What are the good features of the property and location

I live in a beautiful area of CT. There are many things to do within a half hour of my home including live theater, movie theater and restaurants but probably the best part of CT are the numerous walking and hiking trails and outdoor activities (canoeing, boating, etc.) on the river. Adjacent to my property at the back and on one side is a state park within which are trails and a very large pond.

I live 2 hours away from both New York City and Boston.

The house sit will occur in the Fall and the Autumn leave colors should be spectacular at this time of year.

What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment

The birds don’t require much, if any, direct handling but if you have a good comfort level with birds and/or experience with birds that would be helpful.

A vehicle is needed. If you have a legal driving permit you may use my vehicle to get around.

Can I bring my own pets?

No, sorry.
