About this assignment

Ideally, we're looking for someone who loves animals and genuinely enjoys their company, and who will be comfortable caring for our dog and two cats. We want someone who is responsible, respectful and considerate of our home, and who will keep the house clean, tidy and well cared for during their stay.

Our dog needs at least one walk each day, weather permitting, and we'd love for her to receive plenty of love, attention and cuddles while we're away. Most importantly, we're looking for someone who will treat our pets as part of their family during their stay and make sure they're happy, safe and well cared for.

Communication is also really important to us. We'd appreciate regular daily updates on how all three animals are doing, particularly while we're away. These don't need to be lengthy, even a quick message and the occasional photo is perfect. Knowing that everyone is happy and settled means we can relax and enjoy our time away without worrying about our furry family. 🐾❀️

What responsibilities are required of the house sitter

The main responsibility of the house sitter is to ensure our animals are happy, safe and well cared for while we're away. Second to that is ensuring our home is kept clean, tidy and well maintained during the stay.

Pet care:

1. Our dog needs at least one walk each day, weather permitting. She normally enjoys two walks, one in the morning and one in the evening.
2. Give our dog plenty of love, cuddles and companionship. She is very much a snuggle bunny!
3. Feed our dog and two cats according to their usual routines.
4. Ensure the animals have access to fresh water.
5. Give our cats some attention and pats where they'll accept them. Our shy girl may prefer to keep her distance, while our other cat will happily make herself at home in your lap!
6. Keep an eye on the animals and let us know if there are any concerns.

House care:

1. Keep the house generally clean and tidy and treat it as you would your own home.
2. Collect any mail delivered during our absence and bring it inside.
3. Let us know about any maintenance issues or anything around the house that needs attention.
4. The gardens and lawns are not a responsibility. We will have these tidied and taken care of before we leave.

What are the good features of the property and location

Our home is located in beautiful Port Sorell, in a quiet residential area and just a 5-minute walk from the beach. It's a lovely spot for anyone who enjoys coastal walks, fresh air and a relaxed lifestyle.

The house itself is spacious and comfortable, with a large kitchen featuring a gas cooktop, making it a great home for anyone who enjoys cooking. The house sitter will also have their own private bedroom with an ensuite, providing a comfortable space to relax and unwind.

We're conveniently located close to everything you need while still having that peaceful coastal feel:

🌊 5-minute walk to the beach
πŸ›’ 5-minute drive to Woolworths
πŸ• 5-minute drive to takeaway options
πŸš— 15–20 minute drive to Devonport
πŸ›£οΈ 15–20 minutes from the highway, making it easy to explore other parts of Tasmania

Port Sorell is also a wonderful base for exploring the North West Coast of Tasmania, with plenty of beautiful beaches, walking spots and attractions within easy driving distance.

Overall, it's a quiet, comfortable coastal home with the convenience of shops and amenities nearby, and a great location for someone wanting to enjoy a relaxed Tasmanian stay while we're away. 🌿🐾

What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment

The most important thing to consider is that our pets are our priority. We're looking for someone who genuinely enjoys animals and is happy to spend time with them rather than simply using the house as somewhere to sleep.

Our dog, Coco, is very affectionate and loves company. She needs at least one walk each day, weather permitting, and will happily take as many cuddles as you're willing to give! Our two cats have very different personalities. One is quite shy around new people and may spend much of your stay hiding, while the other is very friendly and loves attention.

While we do want our pets to be well cared for, this won't prevent you from getting out and enjoying Tasmania during your stay. As long as Coco has her morning walk and her other needs are taken care of, you're very welcome to leave the house for several hours at a time to explore, go sightseeing, visit friends or enjoy the local area.

Port Sorell is a quiet coastal town, so while the beach is only a 5-minute walk away and Woolworths and takeaway options are a 5-minute drive, having access to a car would be ideal, particularly if you'd like to explore the surrounding area and Tasmania during your stay. Devonport and the highway are approximately 15–20 minutes away.

Working from home is absolutely fine, and we have a great Wi-Fi connection, so the house is well suited to someone who works remotely.

We'd also ask that any visitors or overnight guests are discussed with and approved by us before entering our home. This is simply to ensure we're comfortable with who is staying at our property while we're away.

We're looking for someone who is reliable, responsible and respectful of our home, and who will keep things clean and tidy and let us know if anything needs attention. Garden and lawn maintenance won't be required.

Ultimately, we're hoping to find someone who will treat our home and our pets with the same care they would their own, while also having the opportunity to enjoy a lovely part of Tasmania. 🐾🌊

Can I bring my own pets?

No, sorry.
