Seeking Puppy Lovers Who Enjoy Country Living Just 20 Minute From Beautiful Santa Cruz Beaches!

About this assignment

We are looking for a couple or individual who genuinely loves dogs and truly enjoys being with them. Someone who loves to play with dogs, who doesn't mind sleeping with a puppy in a king size bed if he is frightened or, just wants to snuggle for comfort, etc. You get the picture!!

What responsibilities are required of the house sitter

Primarily, tending to Luca- his safety and needs. He is an extremely social little guy who loves to run/play off leash with other dogs at the local dog beach so, taking him there would be greatly appreciated. It is called Platforms and is roughly a 20 minute drive from our home. (Platforms is the only off leash beach for dogs in Santa Cruz County). (He may be challenging to put back on leash so you might have to tag team!) I try to take him at least 3-4 times a week. There is also Blue Ball Park in Soquel where he can be walked on a leash around a track. It includes an uphill trail past the track where you can hike and find great views of Monterey Bay. One major concern is Luca getting out the front door or sliding glass door into the front yard and disappearing while chasing after dear/wild turkeys so please be mindful and keep both the front and family room sliding door closed at all times and use cautiously. Backyard gate should also stay closed. Luca is a runner and will be gone in a flash and it's very difficult to catch him. We have a large fenced yard for him on the side of the house with a garden where he can play as well as the surrounding decks. I will leave directions to both the beach and park for you. A bath after beach time is best in the middle bathroom with portable showerhead He's usually super sandy and wet so bathing is in your best interest!! The middle bathtub has a portable showerhead which makes it fairly easy. He likes baths! Lastly, it is dangerous attempting to walk him on our road here as he jumps towards every car that passes unfortunately... Otherwise, if you could water our plants/garden when needed and keep the house in decent shape, that would be great!

What are the good features of the property and location

Our property is a beautiful 6 acre parcel in Soquel, CA (Santa Cruz County) which provides beautiful views of Redwoods, deer, wild turkeys, bunnies and lot of other wildlife. The parcel itself is sunny particularly in spring/summer and has a large deck encircling the house. It is only 10 minutes to Soquel Village and 20 minutes to downtown Santa Cruz most beaches. It's a large 2600 square foot home with views from every room. The house is perched midway up our hill so you have gorgeous views of redwood forests but are bathed in sunshine. Inside is cozy-kitchen has all modern amenities including a new fridge.

What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment

In a nutshell, all we ask of you is to be responsible to Luca and tend to his needs and make his safety and happiness your priority while you are here. That said, you are welcome to use anything you need in the house/ kitchen/ laundry. I will create a file for you outlining how everything works in the house Televisions/ Roku etc. We have multiple streaming services for you to choose from plus directions to the beach and park. He will nap for you so you'll have free time. He's super affectionate once you get to know him. If you want/need to go out for a spell, you can leave him in the house alone for short periods of time.
