About this assignment

Hello! I'm looking fora house sitter to keep my best furry friend Zephyr company and cozy. I often travel, I take him when I can but that is not always possible.

What responsibilities are required of the house sitter

I have one dog, Zephyr, who needs one-two walks a day, which is easy in my dog-friendly town. You can go to the beach, trails or at one of the local colleges.

He requires one oral med per day in the morning. Other dutiies might include watering plants amd bringing in the mail.

Please keep the place tidy, be respectful of neighbors.

What are the good features of the property and location

Santa Barbara weather is pretty amazing—we don’t really have winter, which is one of the perks! My place is a short, flat bike ride to the beach, and you’ll have a variety of bikes to choose from. It’s also super convenient: restaurants, a pharmacy, and Trader Joe’s are all within walking distance (and Trader Joe’s is literally across the street, so there’s really no excuse for poor snack planning). Parking is right next to the house, there’s an ADA ramp, and laundry is on-site.

There’s also a little garden next to a small pond that is basically begging you to sit down, read a book, or accidentally take a two-hour nap.

The entire property is fenced, which makes the “potty before bed” routine with Zeph nice and easy. There’s also a large orange tree, so you’ll have access to as many oranges (and as much fresh-squeezed orange juice) as you’d like. 🍊

I also have a small Ring camera facing the driveway for basic property security.

If you’re a single sitter, you can sleep in my room, which has a twin bed. If you’re a couple, you’ll probably be more comfortable in the casita—a separate little outbuilding just eight steps from the house—with a queen bed.

What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment

Zephyr needs reliable medication and plenty of exercise. He should get a 30–45 minute walk at least once a day, though twice a day is preferred—he’s a dog, after all, and apparently has a much better relationship with cardio than I do!

There may be occasional times when I’m unreachable while I’m away backpacking or river rafting. I’ll always let you know about those times in advance, and I’ll leave you with a local contact person who can help with any house-related questions or issues that come up while I’m away.

Can I bring my own pets?

Restrictions: It is possible you can bring a dog, we would need to discuss it first. No cats sadly, Zephyr likes to chase kitties.
