About this assignment

Looking for non-smoking folk(s) who will appreciate our quiet semi-rural neighborhood and spend time with Stella the dog and talk to Nigel the bird.

What responsibilities are required of the house sitter

Care for the dog (food, water and outside trips) and the bird (renew food and water every 3 days. Water the plants when needed, take the trash/recycling to the curb on pickup days. If you want to see the wild birds, top up the wild bird food too.

What are the good features of the property and location

Nice roomy back yard, nice front deck. Close to town, shopping, groceries etc, yet it feels like you are out of town. Duncan is about half way between Victoria and Nanaimo, which makes both easily accessible for day trips.

What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment

Our place is at the top of a hill, a long city block up from the bottom. If you do not have your own transportation, there is a bus stop at the bottom of the street, but the bus service is infrequent. You can walk to town, but it is easier going down than coming up.

Our bird will demand attention with squawks. Some people with hearing aids find this too loud. The bird also expects to have a daily fly around the house. This would be optional, but he will squawk his disappointment.
