About this assignment

I'm looking for a reliable person or couple who loves country life, with at least some experience (or willingness to learn) caring for my chickens and plants. No professional experience needed, but reliability and attention to detail are a must.

What responsibilities are required of the house sitter

Caring for the property, flower beds, swimming pool, and chickens (feeding, water, egg collecting), plus general upkeep of the property during our absence. The pool requires about 30 minutes of daily maintenance. In general, we ask that you take care of the property, with attention, discretion, respect, and above all cleanliness.

What are the good features of the property and location

The farmhouse is located in a quiet area a 10-minute walk from Lake Montepulciano, immersed in the greenery of Umbria and Tuscany. We normally run a B&B here, but during your stay it will be closed; the property is truly comfortable and well-kept, with a large park, swimming pool, parking, and garden. Just a few kilometers away are important locations and villages to visit, such as Val d'Orcia, Pienza, Montepulciano, and Cortona.

What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment

This is a rural area, very quiet and full of charm; a driving license/car is needed to get around. The nearest towns are Chiusi and Castiglione del Lago, about a 10-minute drive away, where you'll find all services, several supermarkets, pharmacies, and chain stores. Caring for the chickens requires daily, consistent presence, and especially if they're left free-range, it isn't compatible with extended absences from the farmhouse, due to predators such as foxes and martens.

Can I bring my own pets?

Yes
Restrictions: The sitter may potentially bring their own pet, to be evaluated on a case-by-case basis; however, it's essential that it doesn't pose a danger to the chickens.
