We are looking for a kind, mature and responsible person or couple who genuinely loves dogs and will enjoy spending time with our 16-year-old dog, Bones.
Bones is in excellent health for his age, takes no medications, and mainly needs companionship, a consistent routine, regular meals, appropriate walks and someone who will be around the home a reasonable amount of the time.
Our ideal sitter is dependable, clean, respectful, a non-smoker, experienced with dogs, and comfortable sharing the home with two independent young students who also live here. The students are not responsible for Bones’ care.
We would prefer someone who can provide good references, identification and a current criminal/background check, and who is comfortable keeping in touch with us while we are away.
Most importantly, we are looking for someone who will genuinely enjoy having Bones as their companion and treat him as a much-loved member of the family.
The house sitter’s primary responsibility will be caring for Bones and keeping his normal routine as consistent as possible while we are away.
This will include feeding him, making sure he always has fresh water, letting him outside, taking him for appropriate walks and outings, spending time with him and providing companionship.
Bones is 16 years old, in excellent health for his age and takes no medications. He does not require complicated medical care, but we do want someone who will be attentive to his comfort and general wellbeing and who will contact us if they have any concerns. We have excellent veterinary care available locally if it is ever needed.
We would ask our sitter to keep their own bedroom and bathroom tidy, clean up after themselves in the shared areas, and work together with the two students to mutually look after the inside of the home while we are away. This is simply about everyone being respectful of the shared space and helping keep the home comfortable and well cared for.
We would also appreciate help with bringing in mail or packages and generally keeping an eye on the home.
The two students are independent and are not the responsibility of the house sitter. They are also not responsible for Bones’ care.
Most importantly, we want someone who will genuinely enjoy spending time with Bones and treat him with the same care and affection we do.
## About Our Home & Location
Our home offers a wonderful combination of **peaceful country living and city convenience**. We are located on the south side of Penticton, just a short drive up the hill from the city. Although you are only minutes from shopping, restaurants, services and everything Penticton has to offer, when you arrive home it feels as though you have escaped to the country.
The area is quiet and scenic, with the beautiful hills and natural landscape of the South Okanagan around us. It is a lovely place for someone who enjoys a relaxed lifestyle, walking, spending time outdoors and coming home to a peaceful setting with Bones.
Our house sitter will have their **own private bedroom and private bathroom**, giving them their own comfortable space and privacy during a longer stay, while also having full use of the shared kitchen and living areas of the home.
Penticton itself is a wonderful place to spend September and October. We are situated between two lakes and surrounded by vineyards, orchards, wineries and beautiful countryside. Skaha Lake and its beaches are on the south side of the city, and the area offers excellent walking and cycling opportunities. The South Okanagan wine region stretches from Penticton around Skaha Lake toward Okanagan Falls, making this a particularly beautiful area to explore in the fall.
For someone wanting to spend several weeks here, we think it offers the **best of both worlds — the feeling of being in the country while still being only minutes from the conveniences of Penticton.**
Before applying, please be comfortable with the fact that this is a **shared-home arrangement**. Two responsible young students live in the home and will remain here during the house sit. They are independent and respectful, but they are not responsible for Bones’ care.
Your main responsibility will be Bones. He is 16 years old, in excellent health for his age and takes no medications. He does not require complicated medical care, but we are looking for someone who genuinely enjoys the companionship of an older dog and who will be around the home a reasonable amount of the time rather than away for long days on a regular basis.
You will have your **own private bedroom and private bathroom in an area of the home that is quite separate and private from the other living spaces**, giving you a comfortable sense of independence during your stay. The kitchen and main living areas are shared.
We simply ask that everyone clean up after themselves and work together respectfully to help keep the inside of the home comfortable and tidy.
Our home has a peaceful, country-like feel while still being only a short drive from the south side of Penticton, so it is best suited to someone who enjoys a quieter setting but still wants easy access to the city.
We are looking for a non-smoker who is dependable, respectful and comfortable providing good references, identification and a current criminal/background check.
Most importantly, please apply only if caring for Bones and spending time with him would genuinely be an enjoyable part of your stay.
No, sorry.
