About this assignment

I'm looking for someone who loves animals and is looking forward to a cuddly time with our three cats! I would absolutely want the sitter to enjoy their time at my home and get to explore the area. It would be perfect if the sitter had a little experience with cats. Although our cats are very easy to care for they are still three indoor cats and require some basic maintenance, so I would like a sitter to know what to expect :-)

What responsibilities are required of the house sitter

Our three indoor cats are very relaxed. They get on well with each other apart from some sibling quarrels every now and then that can be ignored.
They have their safe spaces about the house away from our dog who will not be part of this sit because we will take him with us. They have three litter trays indoors and another one on the balcony. The sitter is expected to clean the litter trays two to three times a day and swipe up the litter in front of the boxes so it won't get tracked through the house.
They get food three times a day. If you're planning a day trip, the lunchtime feeding can occasionally be skipped :-)
All of this I normally manage alongside my full time job so it is really not that much to do. It will all add up to approximately 30 minutes per day. They keep each other company but they also like to cuddle and play. Playtime once a day would be great!

What are the good features of the property and location

I live in a spacious old flat from 1905 with high ceilings and a lot of light. This area of Essen is a bustling urban area with a lot of shops, cafés, markets, restaurants as well as museums, theatres and parks in walking distance.
Düsseldorf airport is close by and I don't live far from the Dutch border.
The house is situated in a quiet residential street with a surprisingly green and quiet garden out back. The balcony goes out to that side too and is perfect for a quiet coffee.

What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment

Essen is home to the world heritage site of Zeche Zollverein which is an amazing place to visit. But if you expect any of the Disney Castle appeal one sometimes connects with other parts of Germany you might get disappointed. Instead, Essen is a multicultural hub with lots of cultural events and places on offer.
If you're working remotely full-time this might not be the perfect match. We do have reasonable wifi (streaming, occasional video calls) but no broadband.

Can I bring my own pets?

No, sorry.
