About this assignment

I would like someone who will be reliable and committed to staying for the agreed upon dates. They are tidy and a non smoker. I would like someone who is able to problem solve and take care of a problem if one arises. A person who will oversee the care of both the house and pet.

What responsibilities are required of the house sitter

I am looking for someone to love and care for my cat while I am away. He is an outdoor kitty and he has his own door to come and go as he pleases. He is affectionate and needs people to love.

What are the good features of the property and location

I am located on Mount Desert Island beside Acadia National Park in Bass Harbor Maine. One mile from the famed Bass Harbor Lighthouse. There are many natural places to explore and many fishing villages to visit. I live on an island that is accessible by car. The community is friendly and there are many activities to participate in. We have many hiking trails, biking trails and bodies of water to explore. In the winter there are groomed cross country skiing trails. I live near the water and have access to a private rocky beach.

What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment

You must enjoy isolation, and cold, dark days. You should be able to entertain yourself and be okay with remote living. The winters can be long and boring if you don't have a hobby or stay active. There is a YMCA twenty minutes away in Bar Harbor. There are great libraries and many places will still be open in the winter. There are events and activities you can participate in if you want connections. But if you enjoy solitude and exploring the woods, and coastline, you will love living here. My home is warm and cozy..It is sunny during the day and you'' see many deer on the property. From the house you can walk to the coastline, harbor, post office and lighthouse.

Can I bring my own pets?

Restrictions: as long as they like cats.
