About this assignment

We are looking for a reliable, trustworthy and respectful person or couple to stay in our home for approximately 3–6 months while the property is on the market for sale. The main priority is having someone who will look after the house, keep it clean and presentable, and take care of the property during this period.

What responsibilities are required of the house sitter

The main responsibility will be keeping the grass cut. A lawnmower will be provided, and this should be a straightforward job as minimal to no grass grows over the Irish winter season. There may also be some light weed spraying around the property once or twice during the stay. The house sitter will be responsible for paying the normal utility bills during their stay. The electric and trash bill combined is usually only around 200 euros a month, and free fire wood will be available for the wood stoves in the home. They will also need to keep the house clean and tidy and make the property available for viewings, including vacating the house for short periods when requested by the real estate agent. Homes in this area normally take 3-6 months to sell so the applicant must be willing to vacate the property once the sell is finalized.

What are the good features of the property and location

The property is located in a peaceful rural setting in County Tipperary, with plenty of countryside and privacy while still being close to several historic towns and local amenities. Clonmel, the largest inland town in Ireland, and Cashel are approximately 20 minutes away, while the historic town of Thurles is also around 20 minutes away. The medieval walled town of Fethard is approximately 10 minutes away, while the historic town of Cahir and Cahir Castle are around 40 minutes away.

There are plenty of good pubs, restaurants, cafés and shops in the surrounding towns, providing a good choice of places to eat and socialise. The area is close to Slievenamon and the Suir Blueway, offering excellent opportunities for walking, hiking, cycling and enjoying the outdoors. Other attractions within easy reach include the Rock of Cashel, Swiss Cottage, the Galtee Mountains and Mitchelstown Caves.

The coast is approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes away, making it possible to enjoy day trips to the seaside. Overall, the property offers a quiet countryside setting while being within easy reach of towns, restaurants, pubs, historic attractions and some of the best walking and cycling areas in Tipperary.

What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment

This is a rural property, so having a car is strongly recommended. Applicants should be comfortable with countryside living, maintaining a large property and being around an active working farm.

Can I bring my own pets?

No, sorry.
