San Diego opportunity - 2 beautiful, easy kitties in bright, beautiful studio apt in convenient, walkable downtown Chula Vista

About this assignment

Someone who genuinely loves cats, will be home EITHER a good part of the day, OR will spend all or most nights there (kitties don't require non-stop attention, but they are social and should feel like they "live" with you, whether quality time happens during the day or overnight - Priscilla will likely want to cuddle while you sleep!)

Someone who is enthusiastic to live in a well-appointed studio apartment in a gorgeous walkable area of San Diego. Studio living means kitties possibly waking you up (they seldom do, but it's possible!).

The place is about 580 SQ ft and well designed, and the sunny bright vibe makes it feel even more spacious.

What responsibilities are required of the house sitter

There are 7 main things:

- FOOD AND WATER - Feeding them of course (Priscilla is on a diet but this just means reasonable rationing), not nonstop fussing over special foods.
- TREATS - Snacks as appropriate.
- CATIO - Catio time! They have a special catio outdoors and they are used to spending AT LEAST 40 min a day in there. You can just put them in there and go about your life inside the house, as long as you set a timer for them. The catio is a big deal because it is their main enrichment.
- PLAY - Play time - they don't play much anymore, but daily attempts with the laser pointer or feather wand much appreciated!
- INDOORS - Keeping them safe and indoors. They are 100% indoor kitties, except for semi-supervised catio time!
- CONTACT - Letting them sleep with you in the same room (and possibly bed) since it's a studio.
- LITTER - Scooping the litter every other day and doing one big change-out midmonth.

What are the good features of the property and location

The house:

- The studio is well-furnished, well-cared for, light and bright!
- There is a massage chair you are welcome to use!
- It is where I usually live, and it's in a four-plex with three other tenants besides yourself. (The property is a house that I converted into studio apts).
- Fellow tenants/ neighbors are lovely and super helpful. They can be interactive or leave you alone, up to you!
- There is laundry onsite on the rear patio.
- Very good wifi.
- There is a yard with grass and a patio with nice umbrella table, lounger sunbed, etc. Make yourself at home!

The neighborhood (downtown Chula Vista):

- so cute, so varied, so walkable!
- 5-10 min walking distance from restaurants, cafes, breweries, etc. Yet the house is very quiet.
- There's a free outdoor gym one block from the house, a pool and rec center 10 min walk, several parks also 5-10 min away. And a library!
- There is a Sprouts supermarket 25 min walk away and a smaller market (Garden Farms) 10-15 min away on foot.
- Bottom line, you won't need a car, unless you want to go to San Diego.

The city (San Diego!),:

- The house is 15 min south of downtown San Diego, and 15-20 min drive from hotspots like North Park, Hillcrest, Adams Avenue/ Normal Heights, and tons of other central San Diego spaces!
- The closest beach (18 min drive away) is the world-famous Coronado Beach on Coronado island. You can also go to Imperial Beach about 22 min away.
- San Diego is beautiful and you will be super close to everything there by car!

What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment

- I'm so sorry but you won't be able to bring your own animal to this situation.
- There is good wifi but no TV. You may bring your own if you'd like.
- The kitties are super sweet and gentle and easy, but Angel is shy and change-averse so I'll talk you through how to befriend her.
- Please have references that you're willing to share.
- Lastly, know that I'm abroad right now in Italy and the reason I'm looking for a pet-sitter online now is that I'd like to extend my stay abroad. For both of our comfort, I would love to set up a phone call, Whatsapp call, voice memos and/or video chat. We can break the ice here first, but let's move to a more in-person feel sooner than later, for all of our safety and comfort!
