About this assignment

Our sitter/s must love animals; enjoy walking our 2 dogs; cuddling our cat and both dogs; be confident and independent and love being in the french countryside.

What responsibilities are required of the house sitter

The primary responsibility will be animal care both physically and emotionally. Both dogs ( a spaniel and a griffon) are walked morning and evening and enjoy an evening cuddle by the fire. You will also be joined by the cat who loves a lap! We don’t expect a daily report but a few pics and a message or two would be appreciated during the sit. In addition we would like you to keep the house tidy. Help in garden (not essential but appreciated).

What are the good features of the property and location

Lovely old spacious french farmhouse with woodburners and swimming pool and broadband fibre so fine for home working; quiet private rural location; 10 minutes drive to two local towns (each with weekly markets); walk out of the garden to nearby nature reserve; near to Pyrenees. From October to February we are visited by upwards of 5000 common cranes on the nearby lake. It’s a wonderful spectacle.

What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment

You will need to be animal friendly. You should also have your own transport or at least a full driving licence. A basic level of french would be helpful. You must be reasonably fit and able to walk dogs twice a day.
We are in a fairly rural location so you must be happy with peace and quiet.
