About this assignment

We’re looking for someone who genuinely loves dogs and will treat ours as their own while we’re away. We have five dogs, so this isn’t a regular pet sit — they all have their own personalities, routines and needs, and we’re looking for someone who is confident, patient and comfortable managing a group of dogs.

Our home is a rural cortijo in the Alpujarras, so we also need someone who enjoys country living and is practical, responsible and able to cope with the little challenges that come with being fairly remote.

Most importantly, we want someone we can completely trust. Someone who will keep to the dogs’ routines, give them plenty of love and attention, keep an eye on their wellbeing and let us know if anything doesn’t seem right. We really value good communication, so regular updates, photos and videos while we’re away are very welcome.

We’re not looking for perfection — we’re looking for kind, capable and sensible people who genuinely enjoy dogs, are comfortable with a busy household and will take pride in looking after our dogs and our home as if they were their own.

What responsibilities are required of the house sitter

The main priority while we’re away is, of course, caring for our five dogs and making sure they are happy, healthy and kept to their normal routine. Usual chores like feeding and clearing the garden of any dog mess. Also if they should need it you would need to take them to the vet.
As this is also a house sit, we would ask you to keep the house generally clean and tidy while you are here. This is simply about leaving the house as you found it.

There are also a few basic outdoor jobs to keep on top of, including mowing the grass when needed, We appreciate that looking after five dogs is the main responsibility, so we’re not expecting someone to spend their time doing chores. We’re simply looking for someone who is naturally tidy, responsible and happy to take care of the house and outdoor areas alongside the dogs.

Most importantly, we want our sitters to enjoy their time here and feel at home. ❤️

Our home is a traditional country cortijo in the Alpujarras, surrounded by beautiful mountain scenery, peace and nature. It’s a wonderful place to slow down and enjoy a quieter way of life.

* 🚗 4x4 available – we have a Jeep which can be used when appropriate, particularly for getting along the final dirt-track section to the house.

What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment

Before applying, please take a moment to consider whether our sit would genuinely be the right fit for you. We absolutely love our home and our dogs, but it does come with a few challenges that are important to understand.

🐕 five dogs: Our dogs are a huge part of our lives and caring for five dogs is a significant responsibility. They all have different personalities and needs, so you need to be confident, calm and genuinely comfortable handling multiple dogs.

⛰️ Rural mountain location: We live in the Alpujarras, in a beautiful but fairly remote setting. This is not a town or city environment, and you need to be happy living somewhere peaceful and rural.

🚗 Access to the property: The final 200 metres to the house is a dirt track. A vehicle is important, and we have a 4x4 Jeep that can be used during the sit. You should be a confident and competent driver.

🏥 Distance from the vet: Our usual vet is around 40 minutes away, so you need to be comfortable with the fact that we are not immediately next door to veterinary services.
