Plant Lover needed to house-sit our home in Costa Tropical, Andalucia

About this assignment

* A person who genuinely loves plants, is attentive, has good experience and/or knowledge, enjoys caring for them and is happy to commit to average 2 hours per day on this;
* Someone who is EU resident or has a Spanish visa (the sit is over 90 days), is clean, reliable, honest and self-sufficient
* Shows respect for our home, neighbours and quiet locality
* A reasonable standard of English to understand and follow written guidance, and for regular video catch-ups

What responsibilities are required of the house sitter

* provide good care and basic routine maintenance of the property to ensure it remains in its current state
* provide care to plants (many tropical), pot plants and indoor orchids including: water/food, protection/staking/remedy weather damage, weeding/ tidying etc
* maintain regular communications with us as owners, liaise as issues arise (if necessary dealing responsibly with emergencies and/or involving insurers)
* ensure safety and security of the property

What are the good features of the property and location

* Costa Tropical enjoys warm, sunny Mediterranean winters
* Our house has spectacular views of the sea, Almuñécar town, green fruit-filled valleys and the mountains protecting this special microclimate; we enjoy fabulous sunsets
* Sitter(s) have large double room (suitable for a couple) with private terrace plus bathroom on floor below; full access to well-equipped kitchen, living spaces, stable WiFi and TV
* We are close to the hilltop, enjoying a peaceful location yet the town's facilities are a few minutes away and the nearest beach is only 10-mins walk downhill
* pleasant authentic Spanish town, good personal security; old town has 3000 years of history; ex-pat community composed from many different nationaities

What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment

* residency restrictions (the Sit is nearly 4 months)
* own motorised transport is highly recommended due to the steep hill, alternatively taxis or online supermarket orders to deliver shopping
* we require a contribution for utilities (a share of actual sum billed monthly) plus a 200Eur deposit on arrival in case of damage or cleanling needed at checkout, otherwise fully refundable
* No pets permitted
* Stays elsewhere limited by ongoing need for plant care
