About this assignment

We are looking for a responsible, dog lover to care for our dogs while we. are away. We have two really different dogs. Our Springer Spaniel, Jenny, is 11 and is pretty mellow. She loves to cuddle and give kisses. Our English Cocker Spaniel, Baxter, is 3 and has tons of energy. He needs exercise (walks and ball throwing).

What responsibilities are required of the house sitter

Feeding and walking the dogs on a regular schedule. Feed in morning and at night and take out at least every 4-6 hours. Jenny can't go longer than that!
Keeping the house relatively clean.
Our dead end road abuts a land trust trail system so long walks are very accessible. Jenny must be kept on lead as she doesn't respond well to other dogs.
Baxter can be off lead as long as you are comfortable with that. Just make sure that he gets to know you well before you try this, but as long as you have Jenny nearby I am sure he will come back to you from his wanderings to pick up sticks in the woods.

What are the good features of the property and location

Our house is located in a gorgeous seaside town of Cape Elizabeth, Maine. We are within a short drive of three ocean-front state parks and several lovely beaches, one of which is very dog-friendly (allows off lead walking before 9 am and is one of Baxter's favorite places). We are just ten minutes away from the Old Port section of Portland, home of too many great restaurants and shops to name.

What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment

Jenny has had occasional seizures that resolve in a a few minutes. she is not on medication as they are rare and don't last long, but when she has them they are a bit scary. our Vet is right down the road from us (literally five minutes away) but we have never had to take her there for a seizure. We have two local back up contacts if there is an emergency so you wouldn't have to handle this by yourself but should be aware of the potential issue, though it is rare.

Can I bring my own pets?

No, sorry.
