I am looking for someone to care for my home as though it were their own while I am traveling between September 19 and Oct 12. My chosen house sitter needs to love long slow walks, amazing views, and cuddling on the couch with a 68 lb lap dog and a sensible but often demanding cat.
This person will be responsible for feeding, brushing, walking and general cleaning and care of senior dog (Riley) and an independent cat (Fabio). They will also be responsible for maintaining a clean and secure home and harvesting ripe vegetables from the greenhouse and garden. Both animals live in the house most of the time, though they can access the deck and kennel through a dog door. However Riley really benefits from going out for leashed slow walks or rambles to keep her joints working. Fabio often joins walks that stay on the local road which seldom has traffic.
Riley is on daily medication for her arthritis and takes other supplements. Just to be fair, Fabio expects treats when Riley gets her meds.
While they are used to a lot of human interaction and enjoy cuddling and sitting next to you, they do not expect nor require 24 hour a day care. Enjoy your time and explore Homer and the surrounding area while here.
Location! Location! Location! Nestled in the beautiful Kachemak Bay, Homer, Alaska, offers a world of adventure for every type of traveler. Discover the wonders of the bay and its marine life on harbor tours, water taxis, and bay cruises. Hike to the Grewingk Glacier and witness its serene lake. The city of Homer is a thriving coastal community that draws everyone to its impressive scenic views, eclectic shops, excellent restaurants, interesting activities and of course, fishing. Dubbed “The Halibut Fishing Capital of the World”, this destination offers a jumping-off point to access the waters of Kachemak Bay, Cook Inlet and the Gulf of Alaska.
My home is situated several miles out of Homer with a stunning view of Kachemak Bay and Grewingk Glacier (Most of the scenic photos in this posting, including the Moose were taken from the deck). It is a newer, single family home with 2 bedrooms and 1 bath. The home includes a washer/drier. Oh, did I mention the hot tub overlooking the bay?
There is no smoking allowed anywhere on the property.
Homer is located approximately 220 miles from Anchorage, where the international airport is. There are daily flights between Anchorage and Homer as well as a private ground transportation system. However, my home is an additional 12 miles down the bay so a car is required. It is possible to set up a house sitter car agreement for use of my car with a sitter that has a good driving record and existing insurance.
Yes
Restrictions: Dog and cat friendly pets are welcome

The best experience at Kris´s place
Kris's house was the best assignment we could have had. Her house is very nice and has ideal size for a couple, it is also modern and comfortable. Kris is a great person and it was very easy to be the caregiver of her dogs. For 5 months we took care of her 2 dogs, they are trained and behave very well. Rilley and Star were very friendly temperament and even treated our son who is still small very well. Kris asked us to take care of her Airbnb during that time and it was a task that we gladly did. Communication was always fluid and flexible even when she was traveling. She provided us with everything necessary to clean and maintain the apartment in conditions. The Airbnb has a comfortable size but it can be cleaned very easily and does not require so much time, estimated 1 hour. We hope Kris will get people to take care of her house as kind and respectful as she is herself. She is friendly and well organized. Paul and Erika
