About this assignment

I am looking for an individual or couple to care for my home and outdoor community cats in uptown Phoenix. Must be smoke-free, vape-free, honest, caring, reliable, communicative, and able to manage day-to-day ordinary tasks.

What responsibilities are required of the house sitter

Feeding of 3-4 back yard community cats. The outdoor cats have been spayed or neutered and I have been feeding them in the back yard for many years.

Caring for the house. Just keep it clean and habitable. A lawn service will care for most of the yard.

What are the good features of the property and location

This centrally located Phoenix residence is close to shopping and dining. There is a large grassy yard with an 8-foot stock tank pool. The house is 1300 sf, 2-bedroom, 1-bath with an additional outdoor shower, large living areas, a small kitchen. One bedroom has a queen bed. The other is a guest room / TV room / office with a day bed twin that can be made into a king - just let me know which way you would like the bed be made up, twin or king. We have a private outdoor shower and 8 foot stock tank pool.

In the kitchen there is a gas range, dishwasher, and r/o water dispenser. Also, a Vita-mix, Omega juicer, cast iron skillets, pots, pans, etc. Note that there is no microwave.

There is WiFi, Roku TV with Netflix, Hulu, Apple, Amazon Prime, etc., central heat and a/c, ceiling fans.

What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment

The house was built in 1949, and while all the appliances, plumbing, roof, and so forth are working, please know that unanticipated emergencies can happen.

Within a short walk is a Sprouts grocery, Walgreens, restaurants, etc., plus a canal bank for walking, running and biking.  Expanding the radius a bit there is a bunch more of the same.

Phoenix is a wonderful place to visit when the weather is nice, October can still be quite warm. There is much to do nearby that is accessible by walking and using public transportation, Lyft, Uber, and Waymo. However, considering the heat, a personal vehicle is recommended. The driveway is covered by a shade sail. There is a level 2 charger for an electric car.

Can I bring my own pets?

No, sorry.

Fantastic Phoenician Host and home.

I'm very happy to have been a repeat sitter for KC. Always feels very synchronistic, and organic in our interactions. I value that very much. KC is a very respected community service oriented individual. I appreciate how much wise investments and details KC puts into her home and property. Her home is truly a sanctuary to me. Her fur feline babies are so cute and your heart will melt at their very presence. You will indeed enjoy the treat of enjoying the humming birds, and blush faced love birds to come and grace your presence. There's pawesome fruit and nut trees on the property... And a highly coveted outdoor shower that gives full privacy, and an above ground pool with a great tanning/patio deck. KC'S home is very quiet and quaint area and walkable/bike able to a Sprouts, AP canal/trail. If you're lucky as I've been, you'll also have a privilege, courtesy of KC, to enjoy theater art plays and museum displays, just to name a few. I said all this to say, I highly recommend KC's sitting opportunities and I would definitely go back again and again to sit.

Happy in Phoenix

KC made us feel very welcome in her comfortable home. The cats were great; raiph very cuddly; alice aloof but hanging around just to be included. Outside cats shy but content with their food and water. We spent many relaxing hours on the shady back patio. Stores and hiking trails were close by and we managed to take the bus downtown a few times. Would recommend KC as a wonderful host; she made us feel right at home.

A Month in Phoenix with Ralph, Alice, and Fin

We spent 1 month in August 2016 at KC & Mikes house, and it was great! KC and Mike left detailed instructions as well as tons of suggestions of things to do in the area. While they were away, we never had trouble contacting them with any questions. Ralph and Alice are easy-going, indoor cats, and Ralph is a snuggler! Fin (the Beta fish) and the outdoor cats are also quite entertaining and low maintenance. Their house is very comfortable and in a great location in Phoenix. We took a 2-night trip to Sedona while we were there, but there is so much to do in the area, we would definitely go back!
