About this assignment

We are looking for a pet/house sitter(s) that loves dogs, cats, rustic living, hiking, nature, and winter snow. Wood stove experience important ;) The winter assignment start date is Dec 22. The end date is Jan 1.

What responsibilities are required of the house sitter

Our 2 large dogs require lots of love, walks, daily feeding, and cuddles.
We will provide firewood, propane for the furnace, electric, internet, land line phone, trash (1x week), water, washer and dryer and backup generator.

What are the good features of the property and location

We have a rural propane furnace/wood-heated house that sits on 90+ acres of rolling hills with pond, and hiking trails., 25 minutes from Athens, a university town, home of Ohio University. Athens is a vibrant community with a library and all the cultural advantages of a university town and an active local community with a public library with many programs, a community center, local theater, farmer's market, bike trails, yoga center, state parks and much more.

What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment

Roads may not be good in the event of a bad winter, a front wheel drive or all wheel drive vehicle is suggested. Dogs are large and cuddly, sometimes overzealous.

Can I bring my own pets?

No, sorry.

Testimonials

A haven for lovers of nature, animals, and blissful quiet

We housesat for Crystal and Carolyn from early December 2014 to late April 2015, and it was a remarkable experience. They're wonderful people to work with - organized, communicative, and caring. They made sure the house was equipped with firewood, etc. and that we knew how to operate the wood stoves and rest of the house. Their friends and family were in touch, so we didn't feel isolated, and could enjoy the silence of their beautiful woods. The animals - cats and dogs - went on hikes with us and were very friendly. The town of Athens is a gem - check out free bicycles at the library!
