About this assignment
MAHALO for being neat, clean, energetic/physically fit with a good work ethic. Looking for someone who leaves home and property "cleaner and neater" than when they found it; people who love animals, are attentive to their needs; love being outdoors and loves to garden, and peace and quiet; their idea of a night out is star gazing sitting around a campfire.
What responsibilities are required of the house sitter
At time of this sit we have 4 cats and two, 1.5 yr year young golden retrievers. Prefer house sitter who has experience with dog obedience training. Responsibilities include light landscape gardening/mowing. . RECENT experience with Zero-Turn riding mower a must.
What are the good features of the property and location
Our home, located on the Garden Island of Kauai, sits on two secluded grassy acres with palms, avocado, lemon, coconut, lichee, cherry and kumquat trees, garden and mountain views, within 2 miles of secluded beaches and coves. Home amenities include built in grill, swim spa and gym, internet access, smart TVs, etc. Located within walking distance to small hamlet with shops and restaurants. Rural and peaceful setting bordered by Kilauea River. Larger village of Princeville just 10 minute drive away. Hanalei Bay, 15 minute drive. Located on peaceful and quiet north shore. Plenty of hiking, biking, kayaking, paddle boarding, swimming, snorkeling, scuba diving, fishing, boat excursions, etc. Vehicle available for use.
What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment
We are looking for ENERGETIC/OUTDOORSY, neat and clean responsible adults This is not a VRBO or AIR B&B. No more than two people, preferably a couple, and no unvetted additional family members allowed after acceptance. Must have lots of ENERGY and be prepared to spend a lot of time with our 1.5 yr old golden retrievers wo are trained to be companion dogs. Dog training experience a big plus!!!

Second Time - Even Better!
Our SECOND housesit with Jack and Gabrielle went even better than the first – probably because we learned their likes / dislikes, pet habits, house/grounds keeping and were much more comfortable taking care of their beautiful home and four awesome pets. The owners are easy-going and have compiled various written lists to make the transition easy and uneventful. We look forward to coming back to Kauai for (many, hint-hint) hopeful futures visits. Ha! We may have met through a housesitting website but we have elevated our relationship into trusted friends.

Great pets and house sit in Kauai, Hawaii
We had a wonderful time pet sitting for Gabrielle and Jack in Kauai. They have a beautiful home on their spacious property. The location was a great base for Kauai’s north shore. We had fun playing with the dogs and enjoyed the company of their cats. The daily feeding and walking routines were quite easy and they have all the info for the sitters detailed and organized. Their house was a great place to “chillax” with the pets and was convenient to explore multiple beaches, hiking trails, farmers markets and restaurants along the north shore. Due to COVID-19 travel restrictions, we had to arrive earlier in Kauai prior to the house sit. Gabrielle and Jack graciously hosted us ahead of their trip and we really appreciated their hospitality. It was wonderful to get to know them with this extra time together. Their guestroom was very comfortable and if you shop at the nearby farmers markets, they have a well-stocked gourmet kitchen. If you get a chance to sit for Gabrielle and Jack, you will definitely enjoy their pets and their place on Kauai.
