Animal Lovers Required for Housesitting in SW France in October 2026

About this assignment

We are looking for an animal loving individual/couple/family to look after our 3 friendly and socialised dogs. We have a Border Collie, a Collie x Setter and...a Patou. They need two short walks a day and outdoor playtime with their humans. Lots of fuss and attention is also appreciated. Our Pyrenean is a gentle giant but walks must be on a leash or he will run for the hills (or the Pyrénées!)You need to like cats too - we have five of them and they also need some fuss and food.

What responsibilities are required of the house sitter

The main duties would be walking the dogs twice a day and feeding all the cats and ensuring they are all happy and healthy whilst we are away.
Our lovely dogs are between four and eight years old and they all have very different personalities...
Sammie (spayed female BC) is the eldest but not The Boss. She loves fuss, attention and treats...if you like teaching older dogs new tricks, she would be perfect. Freddie (male x) is a dog owner's dream...obedient, attentive and with excellent recall. Bohème, our Patou, is so chilled out and has excellent recall in the house...Awesome guard dog too and his bark is quite something. He will use it to alert you of perceived danger...most of the time, he is happy too stretch out on the floor not too far away from his human flock
The cats mostly live outside. The eldest is 15 years old, Bella, our tortoiseshell. Then come Major Tom (ginger), Scrap the tabby cat, TK Maxx, the fat cat and baby Coco who is 6 months old.

What are the good features of the property and location

We live in the heart of the countryside in the Gers in a renovated 5 bedroom farmhouse so we have plenty of room for a family. It is very quiet, relaxing and secluded here so if you are looking for a peaceful get away from it all for an Autumn break then we have the venue! We are around 90 minutes from the Pyrenees and about two hours from Spain if you want to explore.
We have wifi internet access and whilst the TV does not receive UK channels you can watch most British/American programmes in their original language

What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment

We live in the countryside and the nearest shops are a 10 minute drive away so a car is a necessity.
It is very quiet and isolated here (we love it) and there is no real nightlife except a few local bars within driving distance.

Can I bring my own pets?
