Home/dog/pony sitter wanted for 10-12 days May/June 2026. We have a beautiful home in the countryside on the Powys/Shropshire/Welsh Border.

About this assignment

My husband and I are looking for a house/pet sitter (5 small horses/ponies) for our home on the Powys/Shropshire border whilst we take a holiday in our campervan
We are looking for a sitter who can look after our home, our ponies (4) and one of our little dogs, Coco ( Shitzu)
We would like someone who will care for the ponies (3 small Welsh ponies and 1 Welsh cobs). Must be confident around well-mannered equines.

Our house sitter should be confident/competent at house sitting, preferably over 35 years old, friendly and respectful of our home.

What responsibilities are required of the house sitter

Duties would be to ensure the house is kept secure, clean and well cared for. Generally, keep the property tidy. Watering inside and outside pots and plants when needed.
Horse/Pony duties: daily care of 4 ponies who will be out at grass in our fields. They will need daytime inspection and possibly some fodder, and make sure they have water and the fencing is secure. The cob has sweetitch and wears a fly rug, which may need adjustments.
Coco is an elderly Shitzu, and is a very friendly, quiet dog who loves her food and slow walks. We will be taking our other two small dogs with us.

What are the good features of the property and location

We live in a beautiful modern detached house in the countryside, a small to medium garden, excellent fibre internet access,
The Powys/Shropshire border is a beautiful area. We are approximately 16 miles from Shrewsbury, 8 miles from Oswestry and Welshpool. Access to both Mid and North Wales is on our doorstep, so there should be plenty of spare time to enjoy this lovely area. Superb local shop/petrol station/post office within walking distance.

What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment

Our dates are not finalised and are flexible with suitable sitters, but a guide 10-12 days
Only those who feel confident with small well well-mannered horses and ponies need reply.
We would like it if the person/couple could arrive a minimum of one full day prior to us leaving, so that they can spend some time getting to know the ponies and surroundings.
