About this assignment
I am looking for one or two people to care for my two dogs and my house. I would like to find someone who loves animals and loves to walk the dogs while being tidy and careful with the property. I prefer not to have meet prepared in my kitchen but small amounts are fine.
What responsibilities are required of the house sitter
Walk the dogs, 2 times a day. Feed dogs, twice per day. Make sure all animals have fresh water. Give animals attention and affection. Keep the house clean.
What are the good features of the property and location
We have beautiful mountain views from every room in our sunny and welcoming home in a small mountain town in the Rocky Mountains. Kicking Horse Mountain Resort is 15 minutes from the house by car and has world-class downhill and cross-country skiing. Five national parks surround Golden and the area has many opportunities for outdoor recreation. At the house, we have excellent internet and you can walk to all services. Lots of walks available, including along two rivers, right from the house. Golden is a very scenic place nestled between the rocky mountains and the Purcell Mountains at the confluence of the Columbia and Kicking Horse Rivers. Our pets are easy and fun and our home is easy to live in and fully equipped.
What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment
Golden is 3 hours drive from an airport. Pickup at airport could be arranged or from bus in Banff. We could even consider meeting in Calgary from where we fly, lending our car for housesitters to get to Golden and use occasionally, then returning to Calgary when we return from our trip. Golden is a small town of 4000 people with all services.

Peace in a Pandemic
We spent two weeks in Meg and Frank's lovely home watching their chickens. In spite of the COVID craziness going on around us, we had an amazing time! The chickens were easy and fun to care for....and so friendly! We could pick them up and pet them, and they ran to greet us whenever we visited them. Fresh eggs every day! We didn't end up watching the dogs, but can assure any prospective housesitters that they are adorable, gentle and sweet. The house is peaceful and full of natural light. We especially loved all of the counter space in the kitchen! Tons of books and instruments. If you play guitar or piano, you'll be quite happy here. Although we only spent a short time with Meg and Frank, it was clear that they are kind, warm, salt of the earth kind of people. They made us feel perfectly comfortable and welcome from the moment we walked in the door. We would happily sit for them again anytime!

Lovely home with amazing trails to walk on, good opportunities for recreation and beautiful scenery. Puppies were amazing, just took a bit to warm up. Great experience!
