Our small dog is an adopted Shih Tzu, who is 8 years old and easy to take care of.
We are presently looking for a house and dog sitter for approximately 2 weeks, in either April or May 2026.
Our time is flexible and we will not make firm commitment to travel until we find a dog sitter who shows an interest is dog sitting for us.
We are looking for an experienced and reliable dog-sitter, who enjoys living in a quiet seaside neighbourhood.
Your main responsibility is for you to take care of Charlie, our 8 year old Shih Tzu, who is a cute lap dog and is easy to love.
We would like it if you coukd arrive a day or 2 before we leave, so that we can introduce you to Charlie. It will give you and Charlie time to get to know each other. And for you to learn his daily routine and his favourite walks.
We would also expect you to keep our home clean, collect our mail and water our plants.
Our home is a very comfortable 3-bedroom house, situated on the South Shore of Nova Scotia. We live in a small peaceful, picturesque seaside community. Our community has everything you would need. There are shops, a library, churches, marina, hiking trails, pharmacy, post office, and restaurants.
If you are a walker, most places can be reached by walking. The main shopping area is about a 30 minute walk from our home.
There are several beautiful beaches close by, ideal for walks.
We live in a very quiet safe area. Our house is set back from the road and there are woods behind the house for privacy. Our quiet road leads to the ocean and on a clear day you can see out to the Peggy's Cove area. Lobster fishermen can be seen tending to their lobster pots most of the year and fresh lobster can be bought close by. The city of Halifax is a 40 min. drive away and offers all the things a big city would have.
Our community is small and approximately 40 kms.away from our major city of Halifax, therefore having your own vehicle or a rental would be a necessity.
We would want you to be able to spend a few days with us before we leave to get to know our home, our routines and our community.
We would want you to keep in contact with us through email while we are away.
We can only accept non-smokers.

Testimonials
Terry, Cherie, and Charlie
This was a very enjoyable home/ dog sit. Terry and Cherie are gracious hosts. Both are retired teachers who have spent many years in Northern Canada and have some interesting stories to tell. Terry is a terrific cook and likes to sail. Cherie showed me around the nearby castle, yeah I said castle. They are also house swappers so they have experience with having strangers in their home and have a detailed manual for the house and also for local attractions with restaurant suggestions. Their house itself is a very spacious, comfortable and tastefully decorated home with a great kitchen. Charlie is a real sweetheart. He is my first experience with small dogs and he is easy to love. Now I know why they are called lap dogs. He made me laugh alot. If you have the opportunity to house and dog sit for them it's a pleasure.
