House-sitter and cat-cuddler needed, semi-rural but walking distance of railway station, near Avebury / Lacock / Bath

About this assignment

Seeking someone to house-sit at my home right on the edge of Chippenham, and to care for my two cats, for the week at the end of August. One of my two (ginger Jeff) is relatively new to our home, so I don't want to leave him and Ella completely alone while we're away (particularly because Jeff is a total cuddle monster!).

Would suit someone on their own; no need to be around all the time; only to provide more company for them than they'd have just with someone coming in to feed them.

What responsibilities are required of the house sitter

Twice daily food top-up, company for the two of them - and that's pretty much it for the cats! The house itself will tick over; there's a decent sized garden for you to enjoy, and a small greenhouse that will probably need watering once a day (if you're lucky, it may be generating tomatoes / cucumbers for you by then).

What are the good features of the property and location

The house has full fibre broadband if you want / need it. It's in a very peaceful spot right on the edge of Chippenham, on a hill overlooking fields, but less than a mile from the train station, which takes you to Bath / Bristol Temple Meads and beyond in one direction, and Swindon, Reading and London Paddington in the other. Quiet estate location with offstreet parking, and a couple of minutes' walk from the banks of the River Avon, the West Wilts River Route Cycle Path and some lovely walks through countryside and along the river bank and surrounds.

Local attractions include Bowood House, the beautiful Georgian city of Bath or Anglo Saxon Malmesbury, the ancient site of Avebury, Caen Hill Locks near Devizes, or the picturesque village of Lacock, location for many films including Harry Potter and Downton. Great shopping in Bath or at the Swindon Designer Outlet.

What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment

Don't know really - feel free to contact me with any questions! There is also a docile resident cornsnake called Wheatus, but he'll be tucked up snugly in his locked vivarium, and won't need anything; he'll be content to sleep or watch the world go by.
