About this assignment
We are looking for a responsible, mature, cat loving sitter from January 15 2026 to approximately February 10. (Our return dates are somewhat flexible at this point). The sit is for one cat in a centrally located flat in Girona, Spain. We would like to video call before making a decision.
What responsibilities are required of the house sitter
Daisy is slow to warm up to strangers but loves to sleep at your feet. We would need you to water the plants if there's no rain, scoop the litter box at least once a day, as well as collect the mail.
What are the good features of the property and location
We live in a modern apartment in Girona, Spain. We’re a 10 minute walk from the historic old town. The building does have an elevator! The apartment does NOT have a parking space, if you plan on bringing a car, we can refer you to several commercial lots nearby.
Girona is known for being bike friendly and is 38 minutes from Barcelona by fast train. There is good public transportation to many interesting locations in the area where you can hike, cycle or visit beaches or historical and artistic sites.
We can also put you in touch with two groups of English speaking locals and expats who meet once a week. We've made lots of friends through these groups.
What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment
You must be non-smoker(s), have references and bring no pets of your own. We would like to get someone committed as soon as possible.

Ami and Rick were great to housesit for. We needed to arrive early and they were very kind and generous in having us come early. They introduced us to their friends and invited us to join them at different social groups. As we were in Girona for 2 months this was a welcome experience for us. We made new friends! Daisy the cat is very sweet, very easy to take care of. She loved being brushed as she lay on her heated pad, yes she is a princess! Ami and Rick's apartment was nice a cozy and had everything needed to make our stay great. The location of their apartment is just wonderful, Literally a 10 minute walk into the central plaza and the old medieval city. Girona is a wonderful small city full of history, great restaurants and shops all within walking distance. We would gladly return to house sit again for Ami and Rick. Pawsome cat-princess
It was a joy to sit for Daisy in beautiful Girona during my 2-week stay. Ami and Rick were kind welcoming and offered help in a couple of situations. Their apartment is great: bright, comfortable, centrally located, located across the street from a nice park and market, and a short walk to the station and all amenities/attractions. Princess Daisy was a bit shy in the beginning, but she perked up in a relatively short time and ended up calling me when she felt like playing with her beloved string (more often than not). Yes, she talks to you! I had a great time and would sit for them again in heartbeat.

Two adorable cats
I have had a lovely time housesitting for Ami and Rick in Girona. Their two cats are adorable. Both being elderly cats, Daisy sleeps a lot but Pearl will steal your heart. She’s so affectionate and loves attention. The flat is large and comfortable and the location is perfect to see all the sites. I highly recommend this house sit to future sitters.

A great housesit
It's been a delight looking after Daisy and Pearl, both very sweet-natured cats who like to sit with you and receive their dues in love and attention. Rick and Ami have a very well-placed apartment in Girona, walking distance to a good daily market and many shops of all types. Ami and Rick left very good information regarding the way they like things done and also suggestions for what to see in and around Girona. This was a delightful housesitting experience.

Adorable kitties in a great location
Enjoyable stay in Girona with two very sweet kitties. Pearl is definitely a people pleaser while Daisy is more cautious, but soon warms to your attention. Home is close to everything you could ask for. Parks, restaurants, groceries this place has it all. Ami and Rick were welcoming and gave us a tour of the many points of interest before their departure. Happy to recommend this sit to others.

Cuidar la casa excepcional
When Ami & Rick offered us a sit @ their home in Spain, we jumped @ the chance…five weeks in Spain looking after our 2 favourite cats – Daisy & Pearl - for two special people. And bonuses - 1. Their large, beautiful, well-situated, clean, safe apartment…evenings spent on the terrace watching the sun set behind the foothills in the distance; 2. they introduced us to a group of their English-speaking friends…people who meet weekly @ a downtown café…a wonderfully interesting & engaging gathering of people who have chosen to live in Spain/Catalonia, travelling from many points of the globe. Ami & Rick went out of their way to settle us in, greeting us @ the train station, touring us about, showing us ‘the ropes’, & keeping in touch…answering questions/addressing any issues that arose. As well as leaving contact info’ to reach them, they provided contact info’ for friends & resources [vet, med’ clinic,..] in Girona. We loved our time in Spain, in Girona, in their home. And we so miss Pearl & Daisy… We’re most eager to sit for them again.
