Jax, a 50lb shepherd mutt, who loves people. Roo, a 35lb mutt, is stand-offish with new folks but eventually warms to be incredibly endearing. They are well-trained and walk as well on leash as off leash, around town and on hikes in the forest.

About this assignment
We are looking for a house-sitter who is good with dogs, and can provide our little mutts with the activity they need. We are more worried about our ladies while we are away than we are about the property. The home needs little care, although there are some inside plants that will want watering occasionally. The property does have some fairly steep stairs that you will need to navigate.
What responsibilities are required of the house sitter
Primary responsibilities will be for our dogs, Jax and Roo. They will need feeding and daily walks for stimulation; they love going on hikes, or strolling around town. There are a few indoor plants to water, and dog waste clean up (weekly). The lawn will need mowed as needed. Note: some photos have chickens in them, but there will not be chickens to care for.
What are the good features of the property and location
The property is located in the Manette area of Bremerton on a quiet residential street. The shops, bakeries, and restaurants of Manette are an easy stroll down the hill. The house gets beautiful morning sun. We’re a 5min drive (totally walkable in under an hour) to the ferry terminal where there is car and foot ferry access to Seattle and all of the activities therein. There are a half dozen Kitsap county heritage parks within a 30min drive (including lakes and Hood canal) and the Olympic peninsula is just an hour away for all of your hiking/biking/kayaking needs. We have broadband and tv streaming services for any connectivity needs.
What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment
The pups are the primary concern for this assignment; potential sitters need to be willing to take them out and about daily for exercise and stimulation. The dogs are quite well trained, and are great off-leash and on-leash. They can have some dog-reactivity issues (we cross the street when meeting other dogs on a footpath), but otherwise are fine to take out into the world to pubs, stores that will have them, downtown. They're great in the car. In addition, the house is on a reasonably steep hill with stairs both inside and outside, and may be a challenge for those with severe mobility issues.
Can I bring my own pets?
Yes
Restrictions: We do not mind other pets on the property, but our dogs can be unpredictable with cats, and will definitely have a period of getting to know new dogs. They haven't interacted with any other kind of pet apart from chickens.

We loved pet sitting here! Jax, Roo and Olive (the chicken) are great! They have plenty of fenced in yard space to free roam and they are very well trained on walls and in the home. (Chicken aside) ;) Rusty and Heather are salt of the earth type of folks, super generous and hospitable. They went over and above for us. We actually liked the Manette neighborhood so much that we want to move there now! Best yoga, best bakery, charming walking and views of the sound. Their home had lots of little luxuries that made it so nice there. We took a trip around the Olympic peninsula after the sit and it was great.

A Rewarding Summer House-Sitting Experience
This past summer, I had the chance to house-sit for Heather and Rusty. Right from the start, their friendly and clear communication made the entire process smooth. Their house had a comforting ambiance and provided all the necessary amenities to provide an enjoyable experience. The house is situated in a peaceful location surrounded by forests and close to the Pacific Ocean, providing ample hiking opportunities which I enjoyed thoroughly. It was a refreshing experience to explore the outdoors and return to a cozy home. Heather and Rusty's dogs, Jaxs and Roo, were well-trained and became perfect companions for daily walks. Their obedience made it easy to manage them, and their company added a joyful element to my stay. Additionally, the chickens in the backyard were a unique aspect of this house-sitting position, providing a steady supply of fresh eggs which was both practical and enjoyable. Heather and Rusty were not only kind and welcoming but also excellent communicators, which helped ensure a good understanding of their expectations and made my house-sitting experience a pleasant one. The time spent at their home was relaxing and enjoyable, making this a memorable house-sitting gig that I would be happy to take up again in the future.
