About this assignment

A responsible, trustworthy and reliable person who is traveling and can look after our cats in exchange of a place to stay to save on lodging. PS: Please don't apply if you plan on bringing any children and if you don't have references, as we will not reply back unless we can contact references and/or have access to a background check.

What responsibilities are required of the house sitter

Looking for someone who will primarily look after our 2 cats and be at our home at least some time in the evenings to give them food, some fresh water and attention as well (we don't expect you to stay at our home all day, but to at least show up every day so Percy and Blondie know that they weren’t abandoned).
The cats are sweet, friendly and social, so we need someone who will spend more than just a half an hour at our place (as it is what professional pet sitters normally do) and need someone to acknowledge/interact with them everyday so they don't bother our neighbors with their loud meowing all day and night thinking they were forever abandoned. Someone who will take care of our belongings as if they were your own.
PS: If anything gets broken or missing, we expect things to be replaced, and the apartment at least as clean/tidy as we left it for you (we are definitely NOT OCD-clean people, we just don't want to get home to any unpleasant surprises).

What are the good features of the property and location

We live in the north side of Chicago, Lincoln Park neighborhood, walking distance to the Chicago Zoo and to the Fullerton CTA trains that go Downtown. Our apartment is a small but cozy 2BR apartment on the 2nd floor of a beautiful 3 story building in the heart of Lincoln Park. One of the bedrooms have a queen size bed and the other is where the cat litter box, dressers, office desk and closet are.
We have a small kitchen by the living room that you are welcome to use to cook, clean and store your food.
A trip to downtown is about 15 minutes by train, and we live within walking distance from many awesome restaurants, bars, busses, pharmacy, grocery stores and more.
Our building has quiet hours set at 10pm during weekdays until 8am, and 12pm on weekends until 10am. So, no parties allowed in the apartment please.

What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment

If you don't like cats, don't have references, are not reliable and don't intend to sleep at our place every night to feed the cats, give them fresh water and a little attention please do not apply. Only the sitter(s) is(are) allowed in the house and building, we don't allow any strangers or house guests other than what was previously agreed upon. We have 2 security cameras installed in the common areas of the apartment. Please be thoughtful and respectful of our wishes.
