About this assignment
I need an experienced house sitter, single person or couple, from about 12 February- 12 March, 2026 (approximate dates right now, til I book flights.) I live in Falls Church, Virginia, inside the Washington DC beltway, across from a DC Metro. When you respond, please indicate where you are currently located, and tell me a bit about yourself, why you'd like to come to DC. And please have a photo of yourself in your profile. A WhatsApp video call will be required to connect. And because I have had a few problems, and delays, when having international sitters fly to the US for a winter sit (snow, storms, etc,) I'm requesting that people apply who will already be in the US in February. Thank you kindly.
What responsibilities are required of the house sitter
I don't have any pets (and I can not have pets in my home). I need someone to take care of my home, collect the mail, water plants, and keep my home tidy, and shovel snow on my front terrace if we get any, and given that I'll be away in February and March, snow IS a possibility! I have had many great house sitters, I prefer those who are experienced, and those who are currently, or have been, home owners.
What are the good features of the property and location
I live in the Washington DC area, in Falls Church, Virginia. I am a 5-minute walk from a Washington DC metro stop (Orange Line, WFC stop) which will take you to all the DC attractions. My home is walking distance to a grocery store, a pharmacy, Starbucks, and many restaurants - Indian, Thai, Italian, a movie theatre, etc. And of course there is the Metro, and bus routes. A car is not necessary, but there is free garage parking available if you drive. Wifi is also available.
What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment
My home is a condo/townhouse on 2 levels, and to get to the first level you walk up an outside flight of stairs to the front door, and the guest room is on the second floor, so lots of stairs! And there may be snow, so you may have to shovel, snow shovel provided!
Can I bring my own pets?

We housesat for Helen in early Spring 2018 and had just a wonderful time in her beautiful duplex apartment, which is perfectly located in Falls Church. We are experienced sitters and found Helen’s communication, both prior to the sit and during, was superb. Her duplex house is extremely safe and comfortable with a cosy fire, TV, wifi and all the mod cons to be expected and is located in a great place to explore the DC area, especially with the metro just 5 minutes walk away. We thoroughly enjoyed the Falls Church area, great restaurants and a supermarket are just a quick stroll away. A really lovely house sit, Helen is super friendly and we thoroughly enjoyed sharing both our extensive logs. We had a blast there and would love to go back when our schedules allow us!
