About this assignment
We are looking for a loving and honest person/people who wish to make the most of the beautiful countryside to look after our dogs. Non-smokers please.
What responsibilities are required of the house sitter
Water plants and love my dogs. They have 1-2 walks a day but can be left for up to 5hours.
We have a large garden and watering plants will take up to 30 minutes a day depending on the season
What are the good features of the property and location
1750's thatched cottage in the heart of North Dorset. Beautiful walks and lovely pubs nearby! 30 minutes from beaches and located on the River Stour.
We have 3 inglenook fireplaces, one with a wood burner.
We also have 3 double bedrooms.
What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment
A car may be preferable but there is public transport. We are on a main road through the village and the bus stops outside.
Can I bring my own pets?

Beautiful area, lovely dogs
We had a lovely housesit at Rachel’s with Parker and Jigsaw. The house was comfy, the dogs were fun to walk and the area lovely. It was easy to get around without a car. The trailways were in good shape. Rachel was always just a message away and we had good instructions for while she was away.

Felt “at home”~ sweetest dogs!
Rachel and Chris made me feel “at home” almost immediately! It was wonderful to support two like minded travelers in their travels! Their home and village are charming! Friendly neighbors, lovely waking/biking trails. Rachel is very organized and had a typed home manual for me and gave me a thorough pass down about the house, dogs and their routine, emergency info/contacts and info about the village and towns nearby. Jigsaw and Parker are super sweet and playful and you won’t be shy on cuddles and kisses in their company! The guest room was cozy, comfy bed and I even had drawer space for my things. I would highly recommend this sit to any housesitter that would appreciate the beautiful English countryside, kind home/pet owners and 2 sweet furry companions!

Adorable dogs, beautiful home in a lovely countryside
We had the pleasure and opportunity to house sit for Rachel and Chris. Their dogs, Jigsaw and Parker are lovely company. It was a joy to be with them, they are well behaved and we enjoyed their personalities during their walks and while playing fetch with them. The cottage is located in beautiful Shillingstone, accessible by bus from Blandform Forum, and further to Poole for train connections. We relied soley on public transport and bicycles, and found all the amenities accessible. A Coop supermarket is 10 minute away from the house, and a closer minimart at a gas station nearby, with local pubs within walking distance for delicious meals and drinks. We enjoyed our walks around the area - particularly the one to Child Okeford's organic farm on GoldHill, all through lovely countryide and public footpaths. There are many walks to do in the area, to Okeford Fitzpaine and up Hambledon Hill. Susan found weekly Zumba/yoga classes at the Portman Hall enjoyable as well. The house itself provided some of our best sleeps, and cooking experiences with its well equipped and beautiful kitchen, and since we're pretty much homebirds, we enjoyed the cottage with Jigsaw and Parker for most of the housesit. Thank you again Rachel and Chris for this great experience in the English countryside.

Enjoyable experience.
Lovely hosts and lovable dogs. Comprehensive instructions and guides and good backup for eventualities. Very nicely situated for visiting places of significant interest, all within an hours driving distance. Accommodation was very comfortable, excellent bed that allows a very good nights sleep. Lovely walks to be had and Jigsaw and Parker were very well behaved dogs. All in all a very nice experience in a very lovely county. Would highly recommend.
