Santa Fe House Sit July 27 to Aug 14th and/or Aug 20th-27th

About this assignment

I have one outdoor/indoor cat, about 25 or so indoor plants, and hummingbirds to feed. I am looking for someone who will be good to Meow Meow with feeding and affection and take care of the other tasks listed below. I am looking for someone who will leave the house in the same condition; and who will not smoke inside the house (outside is fine). I am leaving around 7 a.m. on Sunday July 27th, so ideally we would be able to meet up sometime before that so we can go over things. I will be back the night of Thurs Aug 14th.

Additionally, I will be away again from Wed midday Aug 20th to Wed afternoon Aug 27th. So if you were wanting to also do that week (or just do that week) let me know and we can discuss possibilities!

What responsibilities are required of the house sitter

Meow Meow is a once-feral now super friendly, indoor/outdoor, low maintenance guy. He is outside a lot of the time (has a cat door so goes out on his own) and goes to the bathroom outside (so no litter box cleaning, yay!). He likes affection. He has a bowl of kibble he free feeds from that just needs to be topped off periodically. In addition, he gets a packet of wet food and a few types of medicinal treats morning and evening. The indoor plants will need watering once a week (though a couple might be super happy for a second watering if they seem dry). The outdoor yard is on an automatic drip system, so just making sure it is running properly (i.e., no big puddles or something indicating a leak). The hot tub will need the pH tested and chemicals added once per week. There are hummingbirds around and their feeder will need to be cleaned and refilled every 4 or 5 days.

What are the good features of the property and location

Santa Fe is a beautiful place.. My house is in a residential neighborhood in the middle of town (so a short driving distance in all directions). It is about a 12 minute drive to downtown and 20 min drive to the mountains. The neighbors are friendly and there is a grocery store in a shopping center a block away (Smith's) with restaurants there as well - East African (Jambo), Vietnamese (Pho Ava), and Sushi (Fu Sushi). There is also an Indian restaurant (India House) and a Greek restaurant (Yamas) on the corner of my street. A brew pub (Rowley's) is a block away. A Salvadoran restaurant (Red Enchilada), a New Mexican restaurant (Castros), and a Thai food truck (Sweet Rice) are a few blocks away in walking distance. The house is colorful and comfortable with lots of art and books. The bathrooms and kitchen are newly renovated. There is a sunny workspace with a sitting area, a standing/sitting desk, and a bicycle desk if you are working during your stay. There is also a meditation space. The house has a small front yard with lots of plants and a sitting area. There is also a large backyard with a covered patio, a hot tub, an outdoor shower, and new landscaping. The house is a 4 minute drive or 15 minute walk to a nature corridor along the river at Frenchy's Park with a bike/walking path that will take you across town in either direction. The mountain is a 20 minute drive. There is Xfinity internet at the house and a smart TV with Netflix, Prime, and YouTubeTV (with about 60 live channels).

What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment

Of course you need to be someone who is cat friendly! Meow Meow is a healthy, independent, but loving guy. He can be a little needy for food and attention at times but all previous house sitters have really loved him - see testimonials. You also need to be willing to do the other tasks listed above with the hummingbird feeder, hottub, and plants, etc..

You can stay in the guest room with a queen bed. If there are more of you coming, my bedroom also has a queen bed and that can be a possibility as well.

Like many Santa Fe homes, my house does not have air conditioning. However, there are ceiling fans in most rooms and extra floor fans as needed. It tends to cool down here at night, in case it's your first visit!
