Holidays in Santa Fe! Dec 22 - Jan 3

About this assignment

Mainly, I am looking for someone to provide feeding and affection for my indoor/outdoor cat Meow Meow. I am looking for someone who will leave the house in the same condition and who will not smoke inside the house. I am leaving around 8am on Monday the 22nd, so ideally we would go over things in person on Sunday, though early Monday morning works too. Or if you are local, we can arrange a meet up between now and the 22nd.

What responsibilities are required of the house sitter

Meow Meow is a once-feral now super friendly, low maintenance guy. He is outside a lot of the time (has a cat door so goes out on his own) and goes to the bathroom outside (so no litter box cleaning, yay!). He likes affection once he gets to know you. He has a bowl of kibble he free feeds from that just needs to be topped off periodically. In addition, he gets a packet of wet food and a few types of treats morning and evening, though the timing can be flexible. There are also about 20 indoor plants that will need watering once while I am gone (though a couple would be super happy for a second watering if they seem dry). There is also a hot tub that will need the pH tested and chemicals added one time as well. I will provide written instructions for these tasks so it will be easy to follow :)

What are the good features of the property and location

Santa Fe is a beautiful place to spend the holidays! My house is in a residential neighborhood in the middle of town (so a short driving distance in all directions). It is about a 12 minute drive to downtown (or you can take a bus) and a 20 min drive to the mountains. The neighbors are friendly and there is a grocery store in a shopping center a block away (Smith's) with restaurants there as well - East African (Jambo), Vietnamese (Pho Ava), and Sushi (Fu Sushi). There is also an Indian restaurant (India House) and a Greek restaurant (Yamas) on the corner of my street, with a brew pub (Rowley's) a block away. Also, a few blocks away are a Salvadoran restaurant (Red Enchilada), a New Mexican restaurant (Castros), and several food trucks (Sweet Rice: Thai, El Placer: Mexican, and Jesushi: Sushi). The house is colorful and comfortable with lots of art and books. The bathrooms and kitchen are newly renovated. There is a sunny workspace with a sitting area if you are working during your stay. There is also a meditation space, an art room, and a massage table. The house has a small front yard with lots of plants and a sitting area. There is also a larger backyard with a covered patio, a hot tub, an outdoor shower, and landscaping. The house is a 4 minute drive or 15 minute walk to a nature corridor along the Santa Fe River at Frenchy's Park with a bike/walking path that will take you across town in either direction. There is also a path along the railroad tracks nearby that will take you outside of town. There is Xfinity internet at the house and a smart TV with Netflix, Prime, and YouTubeTV (with about 60 live channels). There is also a Sonos sound system throughout the house for music.

What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment

Of course you need to be someone who is cat friendly! Meow Meow is a healthy, independent but also loving guy. He can be a little needy for food and attention at times but previous house sitters have really loved him - see testimonials. You also need to be willing to do the other tasks with the hottub and plants.

You can stay in the guest room with a queen bed and new mattress. If there are more of you coming, my bedroom also has a queen bed, and there is room for a blow up mattress as well.
