Countryside house (+ two cats) in Valle d'Itria, Puglia

About this assignment

Responsible and serious person to housesit and look after two cats and a turtle whilst I'm away.
In the summer time regularly watering plants as well.

What responsibilities are required of the house sitter

Take care of the house keeping it clean and tidy, general housekeeping. Feeding the two female cats and turtle daily, and if needed watering plants.

What are the good features of the property and location

Set in the heart of Valle d'Itria in Puglia, an increasingly popular destination.
Halfway between some of the most well-known towns (Ceglie Messapica, Cisternino, Martina Franca, and Ostuni.)
Surrounded by olive trees, trulli, farms, and hills.
Good exposition to the southwest.

What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment

Your arrival would be the 2nd or 3rd October, a couple of days before I leave on the 5th, so I can show you everything and know the cats get accustomed to you.
If wanting to explore the area further own vehicle is recommended, as there are few local public transport options and not always reliable.
Still, there's a couple of buses to Martina Franca and Ostuni and a tiny rail station nearby with a train stopping three or four times a day.
Two bikes are also available.
Nearest town is Ceglie Messapica at 7Km.
House is fully solar powered, 6kw, but in the Autumn and Winter months we have to be very careful about using appliances like the oven, etc. There's a gasoline backup generator if stored battery power finishes, but its very noisy and we avoid having to resort to it, so we keep electric usage to a minimum when it's cloudy.

At this moment (August 2026), I'm redoing the front patio with new paving stones, and as such there are building materials under the veranda and on one side of the house. I'm hoping most of the work will be done by the time of your arrival, but materials will most probably be still visible.
There is one security camera aimed at the front gate in front of the house.

Can I bring my own pets?
