We are looking for a mature, responsible, reliable couple to look after our cat Honey primarily, but also our house. The house is easy to maintain, with 3 bedrooms and there is a lovely half acre garden with mini orchard and vegetable patch. Honey is 15 and has lived in France with us for 12 years. She is timid when she first meets you, but once she get to know you, she is very friendly and quite vocal, enjoying strokes and attention.
The main task is taking care of Honey and give her lots of attention. She is quite vocal and likes to be with people. Obviously keeping the house clean & tidy and checking the pool now and then, although this will be put to bed for the Winter. There will be very little to do in the garden at this time of year, but if you like to garden then perhaps a little weeding here and there.
A lovely tranquil area, ideal for getting away from it all. Our house is situated on the edge of a pretty village which has a shop selling fresh bread, croissants & other essentials, a post office and a small bar all within walking distance. The beautiful rolling green countryside is all around us and the area is steeped in history. Lots to see, walking, biking or driving. You will need a car to get around, there is no public transport.
Experience in housesitting and a love of cats. You will need a car, as nearest airport is Bergerac about 1 hour and 10 mins away. Sorry no small children or pets. References required.
We where very pleased that Julie & Mark chose us for the time they needed a housesit. On the day of our arrival Julie made a lovely meal and we spend a nice evening with them. They showed us around and explained very well how everything works and how to feed Honey and the chickens. Of course the pets were the most important to look after in the way Julie & Mark take care for them. The whole month of August 2020 we spend in their very lovely house and garden and with the warm weather we were so happy we could make use of their nice swimmingpool. Honey is so sweet but also choosy, so we called her our little princess. She came for a wake-up call every morning to our bedroom and when we were sitting outside she was always between us. Just like a baby, although she is already 15 years old. The chickens where very enthusiastic when we brought them some food left-over. In exchange we received 3 eggs every day. The house and garden where very well maintained and super to live in. It was a great pleasure to take care of the many nice plants and flowers all around the lovely garden. There are some nice places we have visited and we went several times to the Super U by our ebike, about 8 km. The area around the village is so nice and we were lucky to see the large fields with sunflowers in full glory. So everything together we would not hesitate to come back again.
We had a lovely time in Champagne ,nice house in a beautiful surrounding with a lot of possibilities for walking/biking. The most roads were of tarmac (easy biking) over rolling hills with almost no other traffic, bikers or walking people. We biked in all directions in a very rustic agriculture neighbourhood. Julie is a very kind host, the house was extremely clean and everything for a nice stay is provided. There is a good "menu" how to take care of the house and cats. She answers your questions almost immediately by phone /mail. It is a place to come back! Ruud and Trudy (the Netherlands)
We were very lucky to be chosen to house and cat sit for Julie & Mark in June 2019. Julie & Mark are a very friendly couple and welcomed us in to their home. We had a wonderful time looking after their 2 cats, Honey & Tigger, they are adorable cats, so sweet and lovable and no trouble to look after. The house is really beautiful in every way, it has a large pretty garden and a beautiful swimming pool. We were given good instructions as to what to do in the garden etc. and we were lucky enough to enjoy the cherries off their tree and the raspberries and strawberries from their garden. There are some pretty villages nearby with some good restaurants ( especially enjoyed Chez Moran ). Julie kept in contact regularly throughout our stay. We had a lovely time and hope to go again. This was a lovely house sit, Mark and Julie were really welcoming and helpful, they were genuinely lovely people. It was a delight to stay in their beautiful home. The cats Tigger and Honey were very laid back and easy and enjoyed our company. As long as they were fed and watered! Champagne is a quiet community but situated within easy reach of some lovely villages and rivers throughout the region. Mark and Julie were easily contacted while away and any issues resolved quickly. We hope they will invite us back sometime in the future.
A lovely quiet place, with very easy going cats and chickens! Contacting the owners was very easy and friendly, at any time. We had a great time there and would recommend it to anyone in search of a relaxing time away from crowds.
Julie and Mark went out of ther way to ensure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. Tig, Honey and the chickens were no trouble. The house has every amenity including a great pool and sun terrace. Helpful written instructions were provided and they kept in touch during our stay.
We were there for 4 weeks over Christmas and New Year and Julie and Mark made sure we had everything we needed and enough wood for the stoves to keep us warm. Looking after Honey and Tigger and the chickens was easy. The nearest supermarket,Super U,is only just over 10 mins drive away and all details of restaurants and the surrounding area was provided. Even though the weather was very frosty and also there was a lot of rain, we enjoyed our house sit.
Julie and Mark are an extremely friendly and hospitable couple. Their lovely, comfortable home is set in beautiful countryside making walking, or just sitting on the terrace admiring the view, a real pleasure. Tigger and Honey, their cats, are no trouble to care for and likewise the chickens, Henry and the girls, are very amusing, and kindly produce lovely eggs. So, all in all, a very nice place. Try it!
