About this assignment
We are looking for a reputable, responsible and fun-loving house sitter to house and dog sit from May 21, 2026 - June 3, 2026. Individual or couple (2). Must be dependable, trustworthy and clean.
What responsibilities are required of the house sitter
The house sitter will be responsible for taking care of general household duties (i.e., getting mail, taking out trash, tidying up if messes occur :), watering the plants) and taking care of our dog, Jaxson. Jaxson is an extremely friendly and easy-going dog who loves people and other dogs. He is currently just over 7 months old and is very active. He enjoys going on walks/hikes and also loves to play with his toys. He is fed 2xs a day. He is clean and well-groomed and will probably not need a bath while we are gone, UNLESS he gets into something messy/dirty/stinky :). He can be left alone during the day up to a maximum of 6-7 hours. He definitely needs someone with him at night (sleeping hours). You will have your own guest room to stay in with ample household amenities to make your stay comfortable and enjoyable!
*** Jaxson will be 11 months old at the time of this house sit. He is currently house trained, knows many commands and is crated while we are away from home. He sleeps in his dog bed at night.
What are the good features of the property and location
Our house is a cozy home located in Wake Forest just outside Raleigh, NC. Wake Forest has a small and unique downtown, easy access to major highways and is 25 minutes from downtown Raleigh. We are also 2 hours from the closest beach and 3-4 hours away from the Blue Ridge Mountains. Our neighborhood is safe and is in a great location for getting out and about. We are also close to a greenway and the Mountains to Sea Trail - both are excellent places to walk/run, ride, and walk dogs!
What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment
This is an 14 day assignment (5/21/25-6/3/26). We will leave early in the morning on 5/21/26 and will be getting back in the evening on 6/3/26. You must provide or be responsible for your own transportation. No children or pets allowed to accompany your stay. Must have references. This is not a paid assignment. It is a free home stay/exchange assignment.

Amazing Sit With Kyle Patrick Lear in Wake Forest, NC
Hello Everyone, I'm writing this with fond memories of a great house sit in the beautiful setting of Wake Forest, NC. The homeowners, Erica & Michael were beyond friendly, organised, and super down to earth. They left amazing instructions with a ton of suggestions to explore the beautiful area outside of Raleigh/Durham all while having the small town feel of Wake Forest! The one and only four legged friend, Kyle Patrick Lear was as breeze to look after along with being a great companion for my stay. He is well trained, easy going and super friendly. I would highly recommend sitting for Erica & Michael in the future if I don't beat you to it next time the opportunity arises!

Amazing sit in Wake Forest
Erica and Michael were very personable and easy to work with. Erica had pages of typed out instructions to reference with anything you possibly needed to know. Their home is very nice, comfortable, clean and organized. The guest suite that was assigned to us for sleeping was amazing. The neighborhood is very nice and walkable friendly with any kind of store you need within a mile. Wake Forest is right outside of Raleigh and has miles upon miles of beautiful paved walking trails within a few minutes of Erica and Michael’s home. There are many wineries, breweries and restaurants as well. Kyle Patrick is the most adorable, well trained Boston Terrier. He stares at you with his big eyes and melts your heart. He also talks with you- it is the cuties thing ever. He will occasionally bring toys for you to play with him. He will let you know exactly when he needs to go outside and is very well trained to roam the yard without going over the boundaries that are set. He loves his daily walks around the neighborhood. He loves outside in general. We were sad to leave him! I would definitely recommend sitting for Erica and Michael and having the opportunity to spoil little Kyle Patrick!

A Good Housesitting Experience
Housesitting for Erica for a week was a good experience! The house was comfortable and in a nice neighborhood. I felt like I was at home and was able to walk around in the evenings and enjoy talking to some of her friendly neighbors. Kyle Patrick Lear (the dog has a full name) is an easygoing guy. Sleeps the majority of the day and gets playful for a couple of hours in the evening. Housesitting for the Lears is a fine sit! Would recommend!

An absolutely wonderful dog sit in Wake Forest NC
I just saw a request by Erica and family to find a dog/house sitter in Wake Forest, just outside Raleigh, NC. I first want to apologize to them for being very late in writing this testimonial, but if I were to grade this sit, it definitely would get an A. The sit includes taking care of Kyle, one of the sweetest and most laidback dogs you'll ever sit. Kyle loves to sleep, loves to tug a rope, and loves to take a walk around his beautiful neighborhood. Taking care of Kyle is a joy, and frankly, a cakewalk. He is so easy going, he minds, and even has a home with an invisible fence around the huge backyard. The home is located in a very upscale neighborhood within walking distance to a supermarket, drug store, and a couple of restaurants. If you have a car, you get to park in the garage. Plenty of tv's, great wi-fi, very clean and the owners are just an absolute delight. I highly recommend this house and dog sit. I would have applied for it myself if I wasn't expecting a brand new puppy myself during their vacation period. Say hi to Kyle for me if you are the lucky one to get chosen to sit. Bill and Joan
