About this assignment
We are used to have housesitters because our owners travel a lot ! .
. You should have exprience with dogs otherwisse we will take over and you have to cuddle us the hole day. We love our garden and we can stay alone in the house if you want to go our and visit the Algarve..Please be careful in our home and garden .
What responsibilities are required of the house sitter
Feed the dogs and ,cuddle them a little and go sometimes for a walk if you can. As it is only for 1 week it is not necessary. We have nice friends with dogs and the dogwalk is in the country (3km away) without leed. They all love company. And please if you could water some plants !
What are the good features of the property and location
It is a 4 bedroomhouse is 3km from a town which is called Almancil. 10km from Faro.8km from the beach.
It is in the countryside and a busstation in 1km away. So you better bring your car or rent one .
What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment
. You will need a car if you want to visit the Algarve.. .Please no children. We would like sitters who are used to dogs and love animals and not only come to visit Portugal

Beautiful Algarve Getaway with friendly dogs and owner!
We absolutely LOVED our stay in Tatjana's home with her 3 dogs. The home was clean, spacious, beautiful garden and in a quiet area. We even met the neighbors up the road. She gave clear instructions on house sitting and caring for the dogs, emergency numbers and even made us dinner the first night. Tatjana is so welcoming and her dogs were so sweet and loving. Lovely home and pet sit experience :)
I had a wonderful experience house and pet-sitting for Tatjana and Derrick. Before they left, we enjoyed a lovely time and dinner together, I felt very welcome. Communication was easy. They made sure I knew my way around and had everything I needed. Their home is charming, situated in a peaceful, natural setting yet conveniently close to shops. Very nice house and pet sit for very friendly home owners
We had the pleasure to look after Tatjana's and Derek's house, their 5 dogs and 1 cat in Almancil, Portugal. We stayed from 19th of December 2022 till the 15th of March 2023. Otto, the cat, and the 5 dogs gave us many funny moments but also a nice rhythm during the day and week. We walked regularly (3 times a week) with the 2 very energetic sisters Klara and Emma and with Mandy. These walks varied between 1 hour and 1 hour 45 minutes and were always in area's where we could let them off leash for the majority of the walks. Approximately once a week we walked together with Tatjana's friends of a dog walking group. That was good socializing for the dogs and for ourselves. Very pleasant ladies and all the dogs in the group went well with each other. We walked daily with Bailey, the 63 kg big, strong but gentle dog. That was a walk in the neighborhood between 20 and 35 minutes. Than there was Shorty, the little boss, who turned 15 years during our sit. Sometimes we took him for a walk in the neighborhood together with Bailey and sometimes we took him with us when we went out for lunch or to a market. He's approximately 3 kg and easy to took with us. And of course we had Otto, the 3-legged cat, which we gave water and food and made sure his litterbox was cleaned (he mostly did his business outside). Otto slept in the laundry room and the dogs slept all inside the house. Derek and Tatjana are very nice and friendly people and they made us feel welcome immediately. The communication with them (before, during and after our sit) was very easy and relaxed. During our sit we had regular contact, giving them updates about the pets and the house. This was another great sit again and we can definitely recommend this sit to other sitters. However, we are (hopefully) first in line to stay for another period if our calendars will match again. Tatjana & Derek are wonderful hosts - communication was perfect from the very beginning and also throughout the sit. After picking me up from the airport I was introduced to Bailey and Mandy and Tatjana explained everything I need to know about them and the house. The house is really really nice and clean with an awesome garden (I loved to spend the afternoons there in the sun with the dogs lying next to me). Bailey and Mandy are both pretty calm and chill during the day but still get excited for their walks. I took them on a small walk near the house in the mornings and drove them to some different places for another walk in the afternoons (I was lucky being able to use one of their cars for the dogwalks, thank you again!) I also met Tatjana’s friends pretty often, it made me feel very welcomed and I got used to the new surrounding easily. It was also nice to see the dogs meeting other doggies. They are good on the leash but I had them off most of the time so they can explore a bit for themselves. ??Bailey always stayed by my side and slept in front of my bedroom door at night. He is a very good guard dog and I never felt unsafe with him taking care of the house at night :) Bailey is a lovely and funny dog (he did a lot of things where just had to smile, he made my days haha!) He mostly was lying close to me when I was working so I always had company. ??Mandy is a really sweet, easy-going and more independent dog but loves cuddles as much as Bailey does :) There's no other option than just loving these two! ??After Tatjana & Derek came back, they gave me the chance to take care of the other two dogs of them. I’m so grateful having this opportunity cause they are as lovely and I love spending time with them as well. Long story short: my second experience with mindmyhome was just perfect: thank you so much Tatjana & Derek for your warmth and hospitality, I’m really looking forward to come back and take care of your dogs :)

3 Honden en 2 poezen worden verzorgd
Een jaar geleden hebben wij de honden en katten Van Tatjana en Derek verzorgd terwijl zij naar Myanmar en Thailand waren. Een fijne ontvangst , de eerste dagen in hun 2e huis zonder de dieren, daarna bijna 2 maanden in Almancil, in hun prachtige villa met Bailey, Mandy en Shorty, de 3 honden en Otto en Fritz, de 2 katten. Otto mist een pootje, maar daar merk je weinig van. Vaak kwam hij 's avonds even bij ons op bed liggen...Wandelen in de omgeving gaat prima, maar als we verder weg gingen, konden de honden niet mee in onze huurauto. Meestal bleven we dus niet zo lang weg. Heerlijk in de tuin in de zon zitten met de beestjes om je heen was al heerlijk ontspannen. Eenmaal in de week kwam de tuinman, dus daar hadden we niet veel omkijken naar. We ontdeden wel regelmatig het zwembad van bladeren.. In die 2 maanden hielden we regelmatig kontakt met Tatjana , zeker, toen Corona uitbrak in Wuhan. Gelukkig hebben zij daar niet veel problemen gehad en konden zij op tijd terugvliegen. We hebben een heerlijke tijd gehad en wij hopen, de beestjes ook. Misschien ooit een volgende keer? Bedankt , Tatjana en Derek voor de gastvrijheid.

Housesit with 3 George is dogs and 2 beautiful cats
We sat for Tatjana and Derrick in their beautiful home in Portugal , looking after her 3 dogs bailey ,Mandy and shorty and her two cats Fritz and Otto !! They where no problem at all and we enjoyed our time there with them all ! Tatjana and Derrick are lovely easy going people ,of whom we are privileged to of come across through this site and have the pleasure of meeting and taking care of their requirements. we had a wonderful time in Portugal both at their home and out and about ! we hope to return one day and see the furries again!! Very good experience
We had an awesome time with Mandy and Bailey, two very big but normally also very easy going dogs. And with Fritzi and Otto, two nice cats. When we arrived at Tatjana's and Derek's home we stayed a few days together. During this time we felt very welcomed. Tatjana showed us a lot of things we could do in the area around the house (beaches, nice old towns, and shopping centres) We had dinner together and had nice conversations. After they left, we kept in contact and we could always ask some things we weren't sure about. It was an absolute nice experience, we would love to come back!

Wonderful Host and Animals
We just completed a several week stay near Faro, Portugal for Tatjana and Derek. They have a very large mix breed dog, Bailey, and a very small dog, Shorty, a chihuahua. Two recent rescue kitties, Otto and Fritz, round out the household. We loved this assignment. Tatjana is a charming, outgoing, easy-going person whom we felt like we already knew well from our calls and correspondence before arriving, and she truly loves animals. She and Derek went WAY above and beyond in assisting us to retrieve a package we had sent there that had gone awry in customs before we arrived. Their home is modern and comfortable, our accommodations were good, and the pool and extensive gardens are lovely, with a weekly gardener taking care of the outside. (And Derek has a killer TV package with many, many channels, series, and movies to watch.) Bailey stays mostly outside and is a very sweet dog, but he is large and young, and needs a strong hand on his walks. Shorty is a committed lap dog who rules the roost, and often gives the cats a run, making it clear he thinks they are interlopers. The kitties are fun and greatly entertaining and enjoyable. We were able to make delightful day trips to towns and villages with ancient centers and interesting histories all along the Algarve. Their home feels almost rural, but is only minutes from their town with all amenities, and just a few minutes more to a glitzy new mall with a huge IKEA. (Prices there were excellent). We enjoyed good instructions, good recommendations, and good communication while they were away. If you get a chance to sit for Tatjana and Derek, take it!

Hope to come back someday!
Tatjana and Derek were very kind hosts and I feel very lucky to have had the opportunity to petsit and housesit for them! Shorty, "Le Gendarme", who has his own tiny real bed :)) kept me company all throughout the day and I just loved being around him, and Granny absolutely loves her belly rubs and looks at us with those beautiful eyes, we can only fall in love. The 5 turtles were very easy to take care of, and the house is just lovely, very tasteful and beautiful in every way. There is a big garden, a lot of beautiful flowers, it's just a wonderful place. Hope to go back some day!

Wonderful home, wonderful home owners.
Beautiful home in very central part of the Algarve. The dogs were a delight to look after, not any trouble and very well behaved. The owners were in touch well before I was due at their home and we maintained communication while they were away. They have also kept in touch since then and we have become firm friends. The home is in a quiet neighborhood and close to all amenities. I would be delighted to take care of the home and animals again if ever the opportunity arose and I was available. Highly recommended to any potential sitters.
