About this assignment

Someone who loves All animals, and has experience with cats and bearded dragons. We run a rescue, and have recently taken in a bearded dragon. He’s very friendly and we want someone to love him as much as we do. Our two cats were rescued from horrible conditions, Louie may take a day or two to trust you, then watch out. He will want to sit in your lap, sleep on your head, and if he really falls in love with you, you might see a little bit of drool. ????????

Mau Will be your best friend the minute you fed him. This is a long house sit so we need someone who can handle emergencies. With the effects of global warming making an impact here, fire is our main concern. We will have folks who can help with different household issues but we need someone with common sense and integrity.

What responsibilities are required of the house sitter

We caretake 16 chickens so you would also be responsible for their daily care. We are vegan so we don't eat the eggs but you are welcome to.
Feed cats, scoop litter box, give any needed medication, they can go in and out a cat door but you must make sure they are inside at dark because there are predators about. The cats stick around and come in easily so no worries. Water a few plants Hopefully we will have some tomatoes, herbs, squash and zucchini.hopefully we will have some tomatoes, herbs, squash and zucchini Mow if you like. There is a riding lawn mower I quite like it, but if you don’t want to we can find someone local who will be willing to help out . We have a cistern so once every six or seven weeks you will need to fill it. It's easy just hook up the hose and fill. Most importantly, we want you to make this your home and make our animals part of your family. Enjoy the quiet and beauty of the mountains and our lovely little town . Thats it!

What are the good features of the property and location

Beulah is a friendly little town. The cabin is very sweet and has a good energy. It has a beautiful view of the mountains and an outdoor table that is secluded if you want to sit and admire the view. There are deer, wild turkey and fox who visit as well.
We have two bikes if you want to borrow them. (nothing fancy don't get excited)
The cabin is only 800 sq ft. so no more than two people. We do have wi-fi.
We have a galley kitchen, with regular size fridge, microwave and oven, dining room, bathroom (No bathtub, just a shower) living room with fireplace, and a loft with queen size bed and total gym type bench for exercise.
If you like the outdoors there are amazing trails within 5 minutes. We also have a lake to the north and south both about 45 minutes away. We have friendly and helpful neighbors, one restaurant, a great coffee shop/cafe, a local general store, a post office, and an art/yoga/massage studio. We have pickle ball, and trivia night, A garden club,as well as several barn dances during the summer. The town of Pueblo is only 20 min away and has lots of fun attractions.
We don't have cable ( we aren't big into tv) but we do have a television we can put up for watching DVDs if you like. There is a local library here as well as video rental at the local store. We also have a nice freecycle and a book barn where you can find great books for one dollar or less.
June through September/October can be any type of weather, but I can guarantee June July and August will be hot.
We do our best to make you feel welcome, and we want our little cabin to feel like home. All we care about is that our animals and you are happy.
I will Skype and show you the inside of the cabin and give you the scoop!

A bit about us, I run an animal rescue called The Lazarus Fund and my husband is an adventurer. We are sustainability advocates and will be pedaling a boat around Great Britain bringing awareness to global warming and what we have learned from the pandemic Most of all, we look forward to having kindred spirits take care of all we hold dear. Can't wait to meet you !

What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment

The one strict rule I’m afraid there is no wiggle room on, is that you must be a non smoker. No tobacco and no marijuana . I know the fact that marijuana is legal in Colorado makes a lot of people want to come to visit, but we don’t want it around the animals.
However, If you would like to take some time off while you are here we can arrange to have a pet sitter come for 2 to 3 days then by all means feel free .
If you don't do well in the summer heat, you wont like it here. Because the cabin is an A-frame and has south facing windows it can get very toasty upstairs.
We enjoy our time outdoors so it’s not an issue for us, we often love to sleep out on the deck and look up at the stars at night Because of warming temps, we now have to watch out for rattlesnakes. We live in a high altitude and never had an issue until the last five years or so as temps have warmed.. It can also get very windy in the summer and fall.
Which keeps us on high fire alert. The cabin does not have a washer and dryer, but we have a friend five minutes away who is happy to let you come by anytime to do laundry. She'll even do it for you if you like.Otherwise Pueblo has many clean laundry mats. Because we don’t have exact dates yet due to Covid 19 we will need some flexibility for beginning and ending dates. but we know for certain the stay will be at least three and a half months and No longer than six months. It could start anywhere from mid June to early July and we will do our best to work with you on the dates as well

Loved Beulah

Tammie and Jason are such lovely warm people, and their pets reflect that. They went the extra mile to make sure we were comfortable and equipped. And we loved Beulah! It was so quiet and peaceful with great hiking and wildlife everywhere.

Staying in Beulah

Tammie and Jason go above and beyond to make you feel welcome and cared for , I was so happy I took this job. Not only is it in one of the most beautiful and little known areas of Colorado , think escape , but the cabin backs to forest trails and their standards are driven by sustainable living which I really appreciated . Definitely worth visiting and the cats are adorable .
