About this assignment

*Seeking a calm person/couple (no children please) to look after our senior rescue dog Noah.*
He is very sensitive and nervous and happiest with daily gentle walks, company and sitting out on the terrace!
We have a 3 week non flexible date period.
28th October until 19th November 2026.
In return you'll get to stay for free in a beautiful house in Porto Formoso on São Miguel. Fast Wi-Fi and all bills included.
We would love for you to arrive on 28th October, to spend the afternoon-evening with us, for a good handover.

What responsibilities are required of the house sitter

To feed our beautiful 13 year old dog Noah and pay him lots of attention.
Make sure he goes out for his morning and evening wees in the garden!
To keep the house in a clean and tidy state, mainly from Noah's hair that he likes to shed daily. We love our dyson hoover in this house!
To take Noah on daily walks, either on our land or local walks.
Experience with dogs is vital. Noah is a rescue dog and can be agitated by smaller dogs and not to be trusted off of his lead near to them.
We also have 5 goldfish chickens, who need feeding once a day and water cleaning. We'll leave detailed instructions.

What are the good features of the property and location

Our two storey house is situated in a beautiful fishing village (Porto Formoso - literally meaning Beautiful Port) on the island of São Miguel, Azores. From our second floor lounge and outside terrace, there is a beautiful vista of the sea, fishing port and village.
There are several local shops and cafes in the village within walking distance and a beach. There are also regular fruit and veg vans, fresh bread deliveries, fresh fish vans and a local meat selling van. Bus services connect us with the capital of the Azores, Ponta Delgada and local towns. However hiring a car is really a pre-requisite for this position, to be able to get to our house from the airport (Ponta Delgada) and to be able to enjoy the island.

What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment

This house sit is suitable for people who savour the quiet and simple life.
The Azores is a wonderful place to be to experience pure nature and explore the many volcanoes and hot springs.
We highly recommend to get the most out of this house sit, you hire a car.
We leave for our trip on 29th October so we would like for you to be able to arrive on 28th October to show you the daily routines and for Noah to get to know you.
