Probably because the owner selected a sitter (which wasn't you), then that sitter couldn't make it. The owner then had to select another sitter instead. This will have triggered another round of notification emails. Sorry about that!
For house sittersThese can be viewed from your 'My house sitting assignments' page, which is available from your Dashboard. Please note that this list includes every home owner you contacted via MindMyHouse, or whom contacted you directly via MindMyHouse.
For house sittersIf you were successful (or unsuccessful), it will be visible on your 'My house sitting assignments' page, which is available from your Dashboard. You should also receive an email at your personal inbox telling you the news (don't forget to check your spam folder!).
For house sittersYour house sitting assignments coming up are viewable on your 'My house sitting assignments' page, which is available from your Dashboard. Once they have been marked as completed, they will be moved to the 'Completed' section.
For house sittersOn your 'My house sitting assignments' page, which is available from your Dashboard, you can click on the 'Cancel my application' link, which will remove you from consideration.
For house sittersTo cancel an assignment before it starts, on your 'My house sitting assignments' page, which is available from your Dashboard, house sitters can click on the 'Cancel this assignment' link. You will be prompted to include a message to the home owner. They will then be notified via email. Please don't leave this to the last minute! Be considerate for your home owner, who may not have enough time to find another house sitter.
It is also assumed that house sitters only cancel an assignment before it has started!
If it has already started, we generally advise that house sitters:
No, you won't be. It will be up to you to prevent a double booking, so be careful! You can't be in two places at once, right?
For house sittersYes, but if you were successful for a house sitting assignment, you MUST cancel the other ones that cover the same time period! To do this, please see this FAQ.
For house sittersUsually this means that the listing has been hidden, or deleted. Reasons for this may include:
If you were selected for a particular house sitting assignment, and the listing has been hidden or deleted, it will appear to be 'archived' or greyed out on your 'My house sitting assignments' page. If this is indeed the case, don't panic, your assignment may still be one. If your not sure, the best thing to do is to contact the home owner directly (via your MindMyHouse Message Centre).
For house sittersYes, absolutely. Competition is sometimes very high for certain assignments, therefore you need to apply for every assignment you like the sound of. Also, if the listing is still visible, it may mean that the home owner hasn't chosen yet.

If you are coming from overseas and is unable to meet with them, you can arrange to meet online (eg. Skype) although this may be a bit harder.
Also, don't forget to have a Plan B in place, in case the home owner has to cancel at the last minute!

If you need to cancel this house sitting assignment, go to your 'My Assignments' page and click the 'cancel this assignment' link. Don't leave it too late!
And lastly, don't forget, do not send any money to a home owner (for travel, or the deposit) before you arrive. That's just some helpful security advice we give out to everyone :)
